Update on Eastern Bank Male & South Shishangeni.

The females that the Eastern Bank male and South Shishangeni are seen around with lately on Voortrekker road are the Jock Pride females.. the pride Thompson males use to rule and then Mpondos took it from them. But jock lodge sent me a video today of a female from a pride we call the windmill pride mating with Eastern Bank male and being trailed by South Shishangeni . This pride was ruled by Mpondos. One female still has cubs fathered by the Mpondo Males.

Blondie Mpondo , The Mpondo that was in poor condition, was seen with the windmill pride after 5th Mpondo died, but he has not been seen lately. So the Eastern Bank male and South Shishangeni are dominant of both the Jock pride and Windmill pride currently. Blondie mpondos status is unclear if he has succumbed to his injuries or he has gone to gather his 3 Brothers to warn them of intruders.

Thanks to Louis Strauss & Jock lodge for the update. Images by Johan Enslin

Golden Mopani Coalition!

Three brothers who rule the area around the H14 in Kruger National Park. Also known as the Shimuwini Coalition. The three Mopani boys have taken over the area once occupied by two males known as the Ngobeni coalition, when the Ngobeni coalition moved east closer to Letaba. The Three Mopani males seem young and in their prime around 6 years of age. They come from unknown origin, their fathers are not known. They control at least two prides currently, but could have more. They control a pride around the Ngobeni, Ngwenyeni bridge area and they also control a pride around the Letaba low bridge area. They have welcomed cubs with the pride at Letaba low bridge. This shows how successful this Mopani Coalition already is . A recent encounter shows that these guys are a serious threat to any males in the area, recently the Mopani Coalition were seen defending their territory from two big dark-maned lions who were previously dominant in the area. The Mopani boys easily dealt with this threat. The Mopani males are stunning males who have just started their reign, we look forward to seeing what is next to conquer for these Golden boys, who will surely grace the Kruger for some time now!

King on Patrol !

Stunning capture of Dark-mane, 1/2 Ngotso males. Ngotso males are two brothers who rule the area north of Satara in the Kruger National park. The Ngotso males first came into the spotlight with a bang; They challenged the three Roodewal males in June 2018, taking their lives and their pride. The Ngotso males have dominated this pride till this very day. The pride is flourishing with the protection of these beasts, a mega pride status. This pride boasts at least 7 young males who will surely be trouble in the future. These two Ngotso brothers remain kings, but will they meet the same fate they gave the previous males? Who knows. But as you can see from the picture, this lion is no ordinary one, to challenge him you better come prepared, or you may lose your life.

-The Lip Lady-

This lioness was first seen in May 2009 in the Gudzani Dam area as a sub adult and there was speculation as to how she might have gotten that injury that would mark her for the rest of her life, many think she was kicked by a dam and others believe she was bitten by a venomous snake, it will never be known how she got it what can be said about her is that she was an emblematic lioness in the s41 area as she was in her adult years she became the matriarch of the Gudzani pride and was an excellent hunter of Buffalo and Giraffe, the last sighting of Lady Lip was at the end of 2018 she is believed to have died!
P.S. The male next to the iconic female Lip Lady is one of the Mananga/Gudzani brothers and it is striking the resemblance he shares with the dark mane male of the Ngotso males known as Vuku, he could be his father as he doesn't know the origins of these males!
