RE: Tigers of Ranthambore National Park - Ngala - 12-27-2017 Photo and information credits: Sanjeev Siva Cowboy. He's known as Cowboy for one good reason, in Hollywood style. Like the entry of Clint Eastwood in Sergio Leone cowboy films against the backdrop of an Ennio Morricone whistling theme, Mirza aka Cowboy made a grand entry to one of the most sought after and the very powerful high seat of the dynasty long established by Padmini, the queen tigress. Born to Husn-ara (T-30) and Bahadur (T-3), Mirza ventured far away from Ranthambore, negotiating the lofty gorges of Kailadevi and the deep ravines of Chambal, the hills of Karanpur and the river beds of Banas, before he makes a re-entry à la Clint Eastwood in Ranthambore. He though enjoyed the seat of power for a short span, before he was ousted by a more dominant male. He now lives off the fringes of the park and human habitats, like a cowboy on the loose and run, akin to his name. A recent proposal to shift Cowboy (T-91) and Lightning (T-83) to Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve (for re-population) will make Cowboy the ruler of a different kingdom.
