Big Cat Diary - Sully - 11-08-2015
Did you watch big cat diary?
If not, Big Cat diary was a show set in the Masai Mara (Kenya). It followed the lives of two lion prides (mostly the Marsh pride but sometimes the Ridge pride), the leopards of leopard gorge, and the cheetahs of the plains. There were three presenters, each focused on one of the three species. It was a very long running show, over 10 years it ran.
The show in itself was fantastic and ignited my interest in big cats.
If you can find episodes I highly recommend watching it as it was brilliant.
And if you did and still follow the lives of some of the stars, please post you favourite moments and/or updates on the cats.
I do have some bad news though, firstly Red disappeared and never reappeared and secondly Olive was killed by lions not too long ago, Jonathon wrote about her death, however she has a thriving daughter in bahati (meaning fortune) shown killing a gazelle.
This vid in itself is one of the best hunts I have seen on video.
My favourite moment was when honey confronted and scared off a lioness. This is from the show. (Jonathan Scott narrating)
Well I know I've gone on a bit of a tangent here but if you got the message please share your favourite bits and updates on the stars of the show.

Big Cat Diary is an amazing show, Jonathan Scott is a very interesting fellow; he is a biologist who also became a wild life film maker and book author ( similar to Derek Joubert ) , his books about lions, leopards, and cheetahs of the Maasai Mara are excellent.
I am amazed with their ability to spot and film leopards, this past September I spent some time in the Maasai Mara and I saw many lions and cheetahs but despite hours of searching we could only spot one young male leopard in the thick foliage of a tree.

About four years ago I had, in my hands, the book of Jonathan Scott about the lions of the Serengeti. It was huge, in Spanish, new and not too much expensive. Sadly, in that moment I do not have the money but when I returned, they already sale it.
I lost a great book, and now if I buy it in the internet, it cost the double than the first occasion.

We don't see them during the movie, but we often heard well them, - when they need to seek and spot a leopard -, to call them and tell where it is... And of course, the woman who always follws and catchs the same leopards knows perfectly their habits.

@Dr Panthera Yup, he is a great animal man all round, and I love the joubert's documentary eye of the leopard, fantastic. And I would love to go the the mara one day, you lucky man!
@GuateGojira unfortunate bro, depending on the time you read the book he may have referenced the documentary I was talking about, why lions are social animals. He was the presenter. The doc came out in 2010.

Apparently Animal Planet are doing a follow up show called "Big Cat Tales". I only read about this recently but I'm hearing it will be airing in October. Exciting if true. I'm glad Animal Planet are investing back into the wild animals too, of recent they've had many shows about domestic animals, fish tanks and tree houses which have put me off and had me exclusively watching Nat Geo Wild, so this is good to hear.

The remake episodes are out now! In the fourth they show a coalition of 5 cheetah males hunt a wildebeest. An incredible scene. I highly recommend watching the episode if you can find it. It aired on Animal Planet 3 days ago.
