Big Cat Week Starts on November 27 - Pckts - 11-08-2015 http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/wild/big-cat-week/ Here is all the doc's they have shown so far. http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/wild/big-cat-week/ @sanjay feel free to move this to the Doc thread, I just couldn't find it. RE: Big Cat Week Starts on November 27 - Sully - 11-08-2015 I would get exited but the thing is there are no new documentary's, I've seen all of them. They need to make at least one new doc for this week. And not stock footage along with some narration. RE: Big Cat Week Starts on November 27 - Pckts - 11-08-2015 These are new documentaries usually, most of them at least. RE: Big Cat Week Starts on November 27 - Pckts - 12-01-2015 Anyone watching? The cougar doc was very good and SafariWatch Live has been very cool as well. I missed a few last night but I recorded them. RE: Big Cat Week Starts on November 27 - Pckts - 12-01-2015 I'm all caught up on Big Cat week, so far I have got to say that they seem to be getting a bit lazy with their research. "900lbs for a Tiger" and many other exaggerations for Super Cat. Catfight was cool images but the back story they used to set up some of the fights were completely false and the information given throughout them were a bit off as well. Lakeshore killers was ok All and all, the docs are a bit lazy, they seem to be showing more old footage but adding the computer generated images and anatomical explanations of how the feats are accomplished, which I like, just wish they had some new footage as well. It was cool to see how the show why a hyenna is able to fight off big cats though, I never really thought about it. But hyennas have a rigid spine and very muscular shoulders and back, they are a battering ram. They barrel into the opponent with their head down and knock them backwards or off balance where they look to land a bite. It forces cats to fight on their hind legs, backing up while doing so. Very cool design for a competitor of a big cat. Future cat was interesting, but I think its an older doc. It goes into detail about the The extinction of the ancestors of big cats today, and theorizes that the possible extinction of the smilodon was due to human competition. It also says that the oldest modern skull found was a snow leopards skull dating back 4 millions years, if I'm remembering it correctly. Either way, still fun to watch, there is another doc that looks pretty cool, tonight. Ill let you know how it is RE: Big Cat Week Starts on November 27 - Sully - 12-02-2015 @Pckts Just as I suspected, old footage with new voiceover, good to know there are a few good ones though. |
