You're a bit sore, aren't you? Now thats a shame. I offered up my opinion, backed it with rationale ,
and stated a fact as far as estimates go. This has been forum policy since its inception. You have
no proof as far as size goes, only conjecture.  Is name-calling necessary? Once again...................
The defense rests. Now if you'd like to continue in a civil manor?

15+. BTW 15' is a huge fish. 18-20' is in record territory. Just my opinion.

"Armchair oceanographers?"
Wow, pretty ignorant remark. So you spit in the face of the actual Marine biologist who specifically acknowledge and estimate the sharks size?

So lets compare the qualifications

Dr Mauricio Hoyos Padilla
"Marine Biologist, Shark Specialist
Beginning his career as a shark nursery ground and reproductive biology expert, Mauricio has always had a passion for shark conservation and has dedicated his professional life to the behavior of sharks. Currently his work is focused on researching behavior of ten species of sharks in areas all across Mexico, including Guadalupe Island, Revillagigedo Archipelago, Clipperton Atoll, and the Mexican Caribbean. Mauricio has remained active in shark conservation outreach and education, giving talks to groups as young as elementary school children as well as groups of high school and university students. His goal is to change the misconception of sharks in the human mind. He helped to found a group of biologists that have dedicated their work to the conservation of sharks and rays in Mexican waters through research and public outreach in education. He is also a collaborating scientist on the board of many different shark conservation foundations. "

VS

Chaos: ?

He is quoted as being the largest GWS Mauricio has ever seen, estimated by the other Marine Biologist to be around 20', scaled under a boat that is 22' (both are viewed under water *same "magnification" occurs*) and obviously looks every bit of 18'-20' which is not unreachable for GWS.
So your initial estimation is wrong and you chose to discredit people who have dedicated their lives to these animals in favor of your opinion?

I think I'll trust the experts estimations over your estimation that she is a 15' GWS (also curious since you estimated her to be 16'-18'+ initially then changed it to 15'?) which is pretty average for a full grown female.

I'll just repost this here so it doesn't get lost in the non sense.

And, I'll restate that estimates are routinely exaggerated by the most knowledgeable of experts. Need I cite "Gustav"
the croc as a prime example of just that, along with countless other "guestimates". What you posted is nothing more
than educated heresy. I'll leave it at that.

"educated heresy" Hearsay is a Rumor, An Educated Guess is "a guess based on knowledge and experience and therefore likely to be correct."

Considering Gustav has never been seen up close or been able to scale him against anything, how are they the same?

Deep blue was seen up close by numerous Marine Biologists and specialists who knew every shark in the vicinity, was able to directly scale against human beings and a boat that was 22' long, so how are the equal?

And Gustav's estimations from experts seem very possible and are extremely far from "hearsay" considering the credentials of the people who made the estimates below.
"Faye estimates that the massive croc measures 20 feet (6 meters) long, weighs one ton (907 kilograms), and is 60 years old (wild crocs, on average, live to age 45). Trained herpetologists agree that Gustave could be that large and that he is certainly one of the most infamous man-eaters of all time."

"Faye has been studying Burundi's crocodiles for two decades"

"Barr's credentials include a doctorate in biology and the distinction of being the only researcher to have bagged all 23 species of crocodilians."

Here they use a 10' shark to scale the GWS.
They have a nice looking 16'er

Hard to gauge the size but if it's as big as it looks...

if this was posted somewhere else i would of thought this was from a slaughter house with horrible treatment of our domestic food.  LOL

anyway,  im still trying to make out what these dead corpses are.....seems this shark decided to take a bite out of the seal population.

Great white shark. But i saw even bigger specimens. Some theories even suggest that Megalodons still roam our oceans though I don't believe them.

Vodmeister, that is one awesome shark! Did I hear right; he estimated Deep Blue at 7 meters ( 23 feet )? That is a mere 2 feet short of the fictional "Jaws".

A 23 feet shark would hit the scales at 7,000 pounds. Deep Blue is a magisterial beast.

I'm surprised that she is still alive though. Normally people hunt the world record holders down. There are estimated to be less than 3,500 great white sharks left in the wild. They are even more vulnerable to extinction than tigers.
