The two sub adult males from the Tsalala/Marthly pride got hold of him, and he died for injuries. I don't known other info about.

From Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve:
"Shortly after leaving Bush Lodge yesterday afternoon, we found some fresh tracks left behind by Maxabeni and trailed him for a short while before finding him resting in the Msuthlu Riverbed. He is looking incredible at the moment!"

(06-26-2016, 06:53 PM)Ngala Wrote: What a bad news. I'm very sad. One of my favourite leopards. A true warrior, without any fear. He has always fought in defiance of all for his territory, even if the risk, as like Anderson male lately, the eternal battle against the Piva male, the left eye lost in the fight with the Marthly male. Warrior in life, as in death. There will not be another Airstrip male.

Completely agree with you here.

There is a word in english, Game or Gameness, often applied to Pit Dogs and fighting Cocks, and also to other animals like Wolverines, Honey badgers and even Lions as well.

I think in his case, Gameness embodies him very well.

He was Game all of his life, with anything life threw at him, like his diminutive stature compared to other dominant males and the challenges that supposed and he was Game vs anything as well: Giant leopards, like Camp pan, Tyson/ Marthly male, and Anderson, big ones like Mvula and Piva, and also vs the different lion prides he had to confront everyday.

Biologically, he wasn't a successful leopard. That has to be said.

But at least, he will be remembered by many, myself included.

Good words Majingilane.

In this last month the Airstrip mating with Moya female, but subsequently, her mating with Anderson male. I think that the coupling with Airstrip has not been successful.

RE: Leopards of Sabi Sands - Ngala - 07-01-2016

From Londolozi Game Reserve, The Week in Pictures #238:
"Tha Nanga female gets active from her Marula tree perch. With the drought rendering the bush as open as it’s been for a long time, leopards are being afforded scant cover from which to hunt and are having to adjust their approach accordingly, especially as the general game is more scarce. We watched this leopard stalk and chase a number of scrub hares on this evening, in an area usually teeming with impala."

"The Mashaba female was watching one of the Matimba male lions who was skulking around beneath her. Had she had a kill in the tree, there would have been a definite chance that the lion would have climbed up to try and steal it, but she didn’t, and so he sauntered off on his way."
