RE: the Selati coalition - Fredymrt - 01-26-2017 Selati male lions have killed a buffalo mother and the buffalo cub is suffering , waiting to die . The lions weren't able to kill the cub properly . For at least one hour it was alive , suffering . Eventually we left the scene .. The location for the event was near Singita Boulders in Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa RE: the Selati coalition - Spalea - 01-27-2017 @Fredymrt: About #109:These lions are just negligent. They didn't need to kill an harmless prey that was unable to protect itself from them. But it' s cruel for sure... RE: the Selati coalition - NCAT33 - 01-27-2017 They appear to be exhausted from killing the mother and didn't have the energy to kill the calf quickly. They're not even feeding on the mother RE: the Selati coalition - Tshokwane - 01-27-2017 (01-27-2017, 01:30 AM)sik94 Wrote: Its lions being lions, nothing negligent about it. Agreed. In complete control of the situation, there's no need to waste energy on that. Besides, being so young there's always some remanent of the playful behaviour of the subadult. I don't want to be anthropomorphic. If they wanted, the buffalo cub would have been killed in less one minute. But this cub being unable to react, these lions didn't take care of it. Not negligent perhaps, but instinctively indifferent, unconcerned about it. OK ? RE: the Selati coalition - Sideliner - 02-14-2017 This morning, the Mbiri pride was found to the north of conking quarry. A big surprise was the discovery of 3 brand new cubs, which are less than 2 weeks old. So its a total of 10 cubs now! The Selati males were found on Buffelshoek access. The ginger male is looking very bad at the moment.
