RE: The Matimba coalition - Musa15 - 01-16-2019 ^Is that a recent picture? Quite worrying. I know he's been starving for a meal quite a few times before but it looks like his life depended on that warthog kill, glad he got a meal there. From the Nthambo Tree Camp feed. It seems as if the Mbiri boys and one of the prides they control have had a run in with a group of sub-adults. From what I gather the Zebenine pride have lost a cub and one of the lionesses is missing. Thanks @ RE: The Matimba coalition - AbcXyz - 04-17-2019 The war between Matimbas and Majingilanes started on 1 August, 2011. "A report from a ranger just north-east of us on the 1st August gave us a clear story that the two coalitions were in the middle of a verbal confrontation. Throughout the night lion roars pierced the winter silence and brief sightings of male lions running around the bush clarified that it was indeed Matimba Males squaring off against the Majingilane Males." (Adam Bannister: https://blog.londolozi.com/2011/08/04/lion-warfare-countdown-to-bloodshed/) It was only a "verbal confrontation"? *This image is copyright of its original author https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2280431898669&set=o.118070854956361&type=3&theater It seems the Matimbas were determined to don't leave Djuma. "one of the matimbas roaring early morning to upset the Majingys and he did, we found a very disgruntled Majingies not so far away scent marking."
