HPL-2 seems a modestly maned lion (by comparing with HPL-6) but his girth is amazing. RE: Namibia Lion Research Project - chaos - 12-04-2016 (12-03-2016, 07:25 PM)Spalea Wrote: @Betty: HPL 6 is 200kg. HPL 2 is 20% larger in body length, and over 7% in girth. That translales into a significantly heavier cat. 500+ lbs, is not a stretch by any means RE: Desert Lions - Gamiz - 12-18-2016 Don't know how I missed it, but finally some news on Xpl-93 From the Desert Lion Conservation Project 15 Dec 2016. Xpl-93 "Tullamore" Update. The last surviving member of the “Five Musketeers” (Xpl-93) has been frequenting the Okongwe Mountains for the past few months. The movements of Xpl-93 and the Okongwe lioness Xpl-104 are monitored on a daily basis. They have spent most of the past two months in the mountainous terrain north of Okongwe waterhole and have also been at Otjizeka spring during the past week. © Desert Lion Conservation *This image is copyright of its original author

RE: Desert Lions - Spalea - 12-27-2016 @ Gamiz: Good news as concerns this last Musketeers survivor... The lions react well against the adversity... Let us hope the people let them live ! RE: Desert Lions - vinodkumarn - 01-06-2017 XPL 98 ( The Ugab Male "Miles" ...) is dead......... Feels unreal and don't actually want to show these sad sad pictures Must have happened just just before our friends arrived there Cause of death unknown at this stage, but given his condition and absence of wounds and excess saliva or no signs of eclampsia ....a mystery for now..... RE: Desert Lions - Pckts - 01-07-2017 Probably poisoned RE: Desert Lions - johnny rex - 01-18-2017 (08-20-2015, 11:46 PM)GuateGojira Wrote: The Hobatere Lion Research Project Wow, I'm amazed by the head length of HPL-5. His head is actually longer than the legendary Duisburg Zoo Siberian tiger which head is 50 cm long thus the lion has a larger skull than the largest tiger. But, I'm not sure whether the measurement of the lion's head is pretty accurate by the way. Is the measurement of the lion's head length based on over the curve measurement? Are there any tigers that possess head that is much larger than this particular lion, if possible? |
