" This isn’t just some ordinary picture of two lions walking through a field

This here is Mr T and Kinky Tail, these two lions are just two of a coalition of six lions named the Mapogo coalition which came to end in 2012
The six lions ruled a territory of around 160,000 acres, 7 times the size of manhattan
They would take over rival prides and routinely kill the lioness and all her cubs
During their reign they killed over 100 lions, damaging the population of lions by 40% "

Well we dont know for Kruger because is hard to track lions there, but there was big coalitions with vast territories in Kruger aswell.

Currently Mantimahles hold big territory, almost from Skukuza to Lower Sabi and south to s21 road and a bit north towards Tshokwane, which is prob close to what Mapogos holded territory wise.

RE: The Mighty Mapogos - fursan syed - 05-02-2020

"The legendary Makhulu of the Mapogo coalition was just just moving along patrolling his territory when he suddenly picked up smell of a carcass. He begun searching around it didn't take long before  finding and impala carcass hoisted on large marula tree. The leopard saw him approaching and run away.I was not sure if an elderly lion like him could climb such tall. He wall around it and climbed straight up no problem and first before he started feeding on the carcass he looked down at us if he was aware that I was daunting if he could do it. He ate a little bit in the tree before take it it down to enjoying it comfortable on the ground.

These Pictures were taken on the 17 January 2009 on   Wallingford Farm." by Khimbini Hlongwane

Probably, The difference It is the way the mapogos controlled them, A pure aggressiveness and courage that I had never seen in another coalition, Obviously always respecting the Matimba, Majingilane etc.

ya...and 1 more thing i notice, when ever majins try to captured new area or new pride they lose the older one to matimbas...but mapogos they didnt lose the old when they captured new land or pride...!!!

They didnt lose it, they abandon it, just like Bboys did, thats a big difference.

Having big territory is nice, but eventually will be downfall of that coalition, just like was for Mapogos and Matimbas..they eventually split to be able to cover more land and then invading males have advantage over you..

Yeah that's right, Majingilanes seemed like always sticking together so they didn't feel like holding many territories at once, for them staying together was more important.

And other coalitions will do the same too like Ginger and Hb when they left Djuma for the Bboys without even putting a fight, not that Ginger and Hb couldn't fight them of course they could but they thought it'd be better to leave it and explore new lands.

Sometimes sticking together is more important.
