Here's an EXTRAORDINARY account of a Sunderbans Tiger killing a large Saltwater Crocodile, by Dr Sanyal, a pioneer of project Tiger in the Sunderbans area.

"As the boat ambled on, Dr. Sanyal told of an eyewitness account reported many years ago: Crossing a broad river, like this one, a tiger had been followed by a crocodile. Maneuvering alongside the tiger, the crocodile thrashed its great tail, striking the tiger across his nose. Here Dr. Sanyal straightened his back and raised his head imperiously; unconsciously, he assumed the mien and manner of the hero-beast. "Tiger had blood coming out of his nose," Dr. Sanyal said, majestically. "But he did not say a thing. He kept on swimming. As soon as he got to the other side, he put one paw on the ground, and he turned with the second paw and came up under the crocodile's belly, and flipped him"-eighteen hundred pounds of estuarine crocodile, which the tiger then ripped open. There was a pause while we savored this tale of strategy and courage. Dr. Sanyal had regained his own gentle manner. "And this is why we love Tiger," he said."

The Sunderbans Tiger is considered to be the smallest out of all the Bengal tiger populations, and still...its able to easily kill a large adult Saltwater Crocodile! (Which is the largest sub-species of Crocs in the world)

"Based on body size, chital,sambar and gaur were categorized as adults (24 months or  older), yearlings (12 to 24 months old), and young of the year (less than 12 months age). In these three species,the sex of adults and yearlings could also be determined based on antler presence in cervids, and from horn shape in gaur. Consequently, for chital, sambar and gaur, five agesex categories termed as adult male (AM), adult female (AF),yearling male (YRM), yearling female (YRF) and young (YG) were delineated."

"As we hiked back through the prickly grass, I glanced to my right and saw a massive, half eaten bantang lying on its side. It was a horrifying sight, especially in the dark. This was what the tiger had returned to feed on before being captured."

The tiger was a young male, weighed 350 lbs.

@CrysOmega :

About #1135: It the first time I read an account about a tiger having killed a (wild) banteng - so rare animal - . Amazing feat, the banteng look as big... Usual way to kill, because of the numerous lacerations on the banteng's neck. We guess the tiger held the bovid by the neck while he maintains the snout in his mouth, so makes him suffocated. Accomplished hunter !

Though other jungle inhabitants seldom interfere with an elephant, a hungry tiger will not hesitate to attack a solitary animal. The tiger will never let go an opportunity to prey upon calves and juveniles. J.C. Daniel in his book, The Asian Elephant, gives a number of recorded instances of tiger predating even upon full-grown elephants. Col Kesri Singh, in his book: The Tiger Of Rajasthan, has given an instance of a fight between a tiger and a big tusker in Assam. "...Some three or four years ago a tiger, having killed a baby elephant, was attacked by a tusker. Instead of trying to get clean away the tiger came at the elephant from the flank or rear, and having got on to his back raked and tore at him with his claws. The fight went on for a long time, the tusker apparently trying to dislodge the tiger by running under and against trees. He seems to have succeeded in this at least once, but only for the tiger to recover and return to the attack...In the morning the area was examined and the story reconstructed from the copious signs left about the area. The aggressor had had the best of it, for the party found the remains of the elephant calf and the dead tuskers huge bulk, atrociously torn, but the tiger had disappeared."

All of these accounts are old and have been posted many times https://wildfact.com/forum/topic-tiger-predation?page=2

You’re better off spending some time going through the threads on this forum and looking up new ones you haven’t seen. Posting extroidanry accounts are fine but the thing about them is that they have been posted over and over again for years. Trust me on this, you’re not going to find anything original that’s occurred long ago.

@Pckts

Yeah, you're right...those accounts have already been posted. I'll soon take some pics from some predation accounts, from some of the books on Tigers i have, and then post those another time.

If an impressive account, more impressive taking into account that it was a young tiger who made the kill, they sedated the tiger to take measurements and some data and to touch it the feeling was that it was pure muscle.
