one moreSanjay DeshpandeTadoba Wild Images 47 mins ·    ·   Our gypsy was en-route from moharli to kolas & suddenly driver slowed down seeing a full grown bison laying down on road, it didnt took us even a sec to realize who has killed it! One lone gypsy standing opposite side frantically gave us lights means the killer is near by & then a tigress came in frame; what followed was a marathon race of eating the prey as well her full efforts to pull the kill in thickset along the road, so has it will be hidden from eyes of scavengers but it was too heavy for her! For next thirty minutes it was click click in pin drop silence, the entire show was dream for any wild life lover though surely not for the poor bison which lay there with lifeless eyes! Thats what tadoba forest is for a wild lifer, making the dreams come true, just be ready to see them! Vikram Potdar my friend & ace photographer was with me, so be ready to see his clicks of the scene, I am sharing mine here! Zoom in image for better view...

RE: Tiger Predation - Apollo - 03-19-2015

So its a male gaur.

RE: Tiger Predation - Pckts - 03-19-2015

I don't think they are male genitalia, I think its labia or skin folded over, the color of the Gaur is brown which is the color of a cow.

RE: Tiger Predation - GuateGojira - 03-19-2015

This is a male gaur, the testicles and the line of the penis are obvious.

The color (and size of the testicles) depend of the age, which suggest this was not a fully mature specimen, probably between 400 to 500 kg. This is still impressive, as the tigress seems to be between 140-150 kg.

Just my guess.

And I would wager anything that is a cow, not a bull.

Its not even close to this

but it certainly is this

Bulls are black with massive humps, cows are brown with small ones. That animal is brown with a small hump, its whole hind section is devoured, there is no way you see genitalia.

Its already quoted as a adult bison, so its not a juvenile. You can also see its worn down ear.

" a full grown bison laying down on road, it didnt took us even a sec to realize who has killed it!"

Again, you are wrong. My guess was not about the sex, but about the weight of the animals. The sex is clear, it is a male.

The photographer say "full grown" but even IF it was fully grow, it is certainly NOT fully mature. Check this out:

The photo shows what probably is a young male looking askance at the photographer. Adult males have a very muscular body, with a pronounced ridge along their back ending with a noticeable hump over the fore shoulder and a large dewlap under the chin that extends to between the front legs. Adult male gaur usually are dark brown, approaching black in older individuals while cows and young bulls are more pale in color. The lower part of the legs of both sexes are pure white or tan so that they look as if they are wearing stockings. Both sexes have horns. The sex organs of the bulls are hardly noticeable.

Now, this is how it looks the genitalia of a female (sorry for the images, but Pckts will not understand if don't see images):

Female gaur don't have "labia" inside they legs, but in the rear close to the tail. The udders doesn't look like testicles and the killed male have the last ones. Do you get it???

Hey @Pckts
Any info on the rhino and tiger picture from Dudhwa ?
Is there is any story behind this picture.
I dont think its just a random crossing between these two.
I feel the tiger was stalking since its too close for the rhinoes, may be targetting the calf.
