All I know is he is about 3 years old, had migrated to Navegaon but came back and his neck is not proportional to his body size possibly because of the collar.

Thanks @Rage2277. They really need to come up with better names than chota this and chota that, especially when another chota matka was electrocuted like a year ago.

‘Functional shifting’ and mechanism of tiger-predation on the Indian Rhinoceros

"In Kaziranga National Park, tiger predation is the second biggest threat to the Indian rhino after poaching. In this Park, during 1972-1978 (upto March) the number of rhino calves killed by the tigers were 1972 – 4; 1973 – 16; 1974 – 6; 1975 – 5; 1976 – 7; 1977 – 12 and 1978 (first quarter) – 4. Data collected for the period from 1985 to 1995 reveal that out of 178 rhinos killed by tigers in the park, 149 (83.7%) were calves with an average calf-mortality of 14.9 per year"

RE: Tiger Predation - Ashutosh - 04-26-2020

@Sully, it is important to also add the number of tigers and rhinos in the park at that time for a comparative context. Rhinos numbered close to 450 in early 70s while tigers fluctuated between 40-60. The populations of both those animals has increased significantly since then with rhinos now number 2500+ and tigers at nearly 125.
