@Nyers :Marjan got older under the Russian army occupation, bruised because of the soldiers' and Talibans' barbary and died just after the American GIs' arrival. We can admit this lion was destined to espouse/to fit (I don't know to choose the right word) the funest tragedy of Kabul. In these conditions 25 years anyway !

An other interesting link:

Several photos are linked to it...

Chimps are not playing with it they really wanted to kill the Raccon

@epaiva :

Agree with you, the chimps wanted really to kill the raccon. It isn't a play, chimps are very aggressiv and cruel animals able to practice the cannibalism:

So, you think a raccon....

Officials of Nehru Zoological Park noted last week that Atul was not having feed, and was unable to walk. Veterinary doctors kept it under observation but weren't able to save him.

@Rishi :

About #1321: It was looking wonderful this 19-year-old lion... Unless this photo was taken a long time before its death.

Yes, i think it was from when he was younger.

So this guy i saw in Kolkata zoo is his son...
Rishi Wrote:The asiatic lion pair came from Hyderabad Zoo earlier this year (the female's silhoutte inside is visible in last picture). Also no weight or measurements of them were ever taken... But visibly he was quite stout, more than i was expecting. And large. At least as large as that white tiger above, maybe more.

Also a lion's roar sounded much louder & resonating in real life than it does on screen.

Snow leopard mother defending her cub from an amur leopard in a zoo

RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Amnon242 - 10-28-2018

amur tigress, about 5 yo. Huge, I estimate her to be 160 kg at least. Cub is about 6mo (she has 4 cubs)

RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Amnon242 - 10-28-2018

Male bengal and lioness, both 1yo (born same day). Tiger taller and much more robust. I estimate the lioness to be 50-70 kg, tiger 80-100 kg. I saw many playfull skirmishes between them, sometimes the tiger had the upper hand, sometimes the lioness. Videos of those skirmishes could look quite serious and fanboys could use them as quite convincing evidence of fighting superiority of their favourite cat. But in fact, such skirmishes absolutely cant be taken seriously (and I think the same goes for various videos from everland or other facilities...you dont know the context - you donkt know anything).

Look at the skull of Bimbo the male Amur (Ussuri?) tiger from Oasis of Siberian Tiger. I guess his skull must be between 11-12 inches wide, with the largest estimate being a trifle more than 12 inches.

I think this is the same tiger, which Betty posted awhile ago. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/0otnXfg8qnYFFC6Ebl2k8cPdB8ziahU5jd3P1wFoAyQ0Ls64L7d34hwTT3GBF0Mp4IvYDHdWMdyM4F8lB14NnSlj-A2mp9Oqa8aJULjQP40XVLcq4U_tNEgf_1IdLcK_wq0c04OEb_60okkwgj-ZhXFsdbqG3BTZdO3p31ZELy_0L3SrdCUX38LM8MWXO0B5x8_OJmUn16xoCRr8e4E9a5n5_l1-x2a9T3WzSct058oVIGqoYujTiyfBgHotpbBZ3ZDjhoVPr7Jjo_m8k7dQvLsACeGj-tCzZtzpH7YN_O01orIdzlUhM7l74LXB5uFSfIu2Dfmhy3W3tFKZzwCZjqyC-iOHvqFMyCHGR0gC-bkKDd7jxRTtZ_7anI7J7Z1sHlgADrOVFkoSpYcxaL_enpF5YcmfIzGuDUnDYQsNRZ-czO63t0Kpy_CUzc4m8Qp-EYxLiSf9HpQIn_hVpYqfQ72mCqQRQ4GXvcfwz46OPwcbMe4aw5bPL7oC-_zDwympZlxKlsFbHfJC0bOhztWAadlOOqRvzP2QHVB4cCB7o8gvrRyZnAwhqcLUCJBV66vqAQom455HkL8vkj2jukaZcr45Ow0ODfHU6qiixJU=w689-h770-no
