Captive Lions - Pantherinae - 06-03-2015

thread dedicated to captive lions

RE: Captive Lions - Pantherinae - 06-03-2015

this is a video from the Kristiansand animal park where I work.
This is the first time there was born lions in the park and actuall the first time ever in Norway, we introdused the first and smallest male Aragon to the cubs first, and the lionesses Kila and Sera did really protect the cubs as real lion mothers does, incredible.

RE: Captive Lions - tigerluver - 06-03-2015

I'd think that videos like these would be better suited for the captive gallery thread already going. Do you have anything in text for this thread?

RE: captive tigers - faess - 06-03-2015

Was that Baikal Tiger confirmed to weigh 900 lbs?

He was weighed at 850 pounds at the age of 12.

@Kingtheropod can confirm it via the email from the park manager.

Jaipur is the largest captive cat ever measured, correct?
Outside of Ligers of course.

And a side note, we already have a thread dedicated to captive lions and tigers, I doubt we need two more.

Jaipur is one of the heaviest captive tigers ever recorded, but not the longest nor the tallest.

Jaipur is slightly heavier than Baikal because he is fatter, but in the body dimension wise, Baikal holds an edge in every department.

Some big ole tigers here

Edit:
A side note, I'm going to the LA zoo tomorrow, Ill take some photos of the Lions, Sumatran Tigers and Jaguars and anything I think you guys will find interesting.

RE: Zoos, Circuses, Safaris... A Gallery of Captivity - Pckts - 06-07-2015

LA Zoo Notes:

-Got to see Lion pair, Sumatran Tiger and Snow leopard (all sleeping)
-Jaguar wasn't in its enclosure
-One horned rhino
-Asian Elephant
-Hippo
-Harpy Eagle
-Chimps and lots of different monkeys
-Lots of snakes (green mamba and gaboon Viper are my favorites)
-Black Bear (sleeping)
Not a bad price but still sad to see these animals locked in small enclosures, they need to invest money into the place. They also openly breed the animals to continue the trend of captive animals, all n all, its not bad.

Here are some videos from the images at Shizzy wild cat rescue.
Check out the size of these Tigers and Lions.
Massive!

They found these two Tigers literally wondering the side of the Road in Carolina. How unbelievable is that?

I must say, these are some of the best looking captive cats I have seen. They are massive, healthy and in shape, at least as in shape as I have seen in captive cats.

Its all in russian but they are some big cats, I think they are amurs as well.
Lions always seem to grow much longer fur in the colder habitats, same as tigers.
Interesting to see

Here is a video of the Tigress' with the lion from these images (I believe)

Either way, these are big girls
