Any improvement in his condition?

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - Duco Ndona - 09-03-2021

I think its very vague and doubtfull.

He was in a bad condition. If he is fine now why didnt he show himself more?

I think fine here means more not death yet or fine despite his normal bad condition.

I have no idea, to be honest. Hopefully we will see a footage of him soon.

Limper with Ximunghwe lionesses

What a sighting, Limper Tumbela and Ximhungwe female climbing on tree to steal a kill from female leopard and her cub:

Looks like he's growing a tiny bit of hair on the top of his head

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - Duco Ndona - 09-05-2021

Some interesting bits in the comments too.

On asked about Scar.

Quote:3rd male not doing great but is still very much alive and keeping up with his brothers

That's a bit more believable and informative than the remarks Diff made earlier. I dont think he will recover.

Regarding the Ximhungwe subadult.

Quote:yes she was at the base of the tree

It seems Limper has accepted the subadult. Which is very promising for this mini pride of lions.

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - lionuk - 09-05-2021

Actually that ranger answered to my question about the cub. She was seen at the base of the tree. Furthermore, he also said the three of them have been seen hanging out together lately, which is amazing. I mean, the cub doesn't hide from him and that her mother must feel comfortable for her cub to be around him. Hopefully we will see a footage of them together soon.

I guess it's a temperament thing, I remember a video of a sub-adult being killed by the black rock coalition I think it was. Apparently only one male attacked her while the others just fed. I hope skorro jr is as tolerant

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - Duco Ndona - 09-06-2021

If he has the scent of Limper around her, her chances would increase I suppose.

Anyway. An image of allegedly Scar posted in the Othawa facebook group by Conrad Wood photographed a week ago.

It doesn't look good. Judging on the wounds on his hindleg. It seems he gets beaten and chased off a lot by the rest of the group. I don't think he will make it much longer.
I guess Limper made the right decision to leave.

Leave what?

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - Duco Ndona - 09-06-2021

Staying more time away from the Others to catch his own food or munch off the Ximhungwe pride. Instead of trying his luck competing with his brother and the Othawas for food like Scar seems to be doing.

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - lionuk - 09-06-2021

Scar Tumbela has been seen today with the pride.

RE: The Tumbela Coalition - Cath2020 - 09-06-2021

Interesting.  We could be seeing some coalition changes in the coming months.  Scar Eye is heading downhill health-wise and Blondie is off with another pride.  I think that if the bonds are not strong enough between coalition brothers, they will start to slowly separate upon any pretext.  We see a marked deterioration in one brother, the sharp strengthening of another, and the distancing of the third....  This doesn't bode too well for the long-term cohesion of these males to sustain the pride and see the cubs into adulthood.  The only thing on their side is location.  We'll see if they get lucky and manage to raise the Othawa cubs for at least another 1.5--2 years.  A single male defending the pride is risky in SS....  I don't think I like to see this coalition fracture in such a way.  What a shame.

We'll see if they can come together more often in the future.  If the pride attacked Scar....Well, that's just bad news.  Hope he can manage to find enough food with leftovers.
