RE: Felines in competition with other carnivores - Siegfried - 09-05-2014

I am not going to waste my time looking for or posting the countless videos of leopards climbing up trees when danger approaches.

Good, because that happens as well.
Hence what has been said numerous times.

Leopard and hyena have a dispute - Siegfried - 10-09-2014

Just guessing... but I suspect the hyena stole a leopards kill.  As I've said before, a leopard hunting and catching a hyena off guard is very different than a leopard fighting a hyena... most of the time.

RE: Leopard and hyena have a dispute - Siegfried - 10-09-2014

For some reason the video didn't post.  I will try again.

RE: Leopard and hyena have a dispute - chaos - 10-09-2014

I'm surprised at the outcome. I'd have thought senor Leo-pard would have kicked hyena butt.
Perhaps I'm wrong to assume hyenas only fight well or show bravery in groups.

Siegfried, Don't create small thread here and there, These video have already a place to post...Please find these places and post there...creating unnecessary thread is not advised. You could have post this post under Leopard picture, data and video.

I hope you will keep this in mind for future post

Does that look like a full grown leopard to you?
In my opinion...
The leopards looks to be a juvenile.

What about a leopard running off multiple hyennas at once?
What about a leopard grabbing a hyenna in throat hold when they are facing each other?

For one example you show, there are many others that will contradict it.
Just sayen...

Leopard and Hyenna clan fighting over Warthog kill

RE: Leopard and hyena have a dispute - Siegfried - 10-11-2014

I am not at all surprised at the outcome Mr. Chaos, just as I would not at all be surprised to see a hyena carcass hanging from a tree.

There are some similar vids posted on youtube. Interesting dynamic that hyenas bring to the table.
Even though they're capable hunters, they play the role of Savannah spoilers so well. They are a
constant threat to all other predators - big and small. They've evolved so adeptly into that role. The
ideal scavenger.

Big Cat Interactions - Intraspecific Conflicts - Vodmeister - 10-20-2014

Although I long knew that they co-existed, I'd never actually seen an encounter between the two until this video:
