RE: Birmingham Pride of lions - BA0701 - 11-08-2020

Video of the images @"TinoArmando" posted, showing the entire interaction. Tyson watching him like a hawk. We also get to see how BYM is walking now. He is looking so good at this point, but there is certainly concerns for him with Tyson, you can feel the tension in this video, just like others we've seen since BYM returned from his walk about a couple of weeks ago.

Wow! To think, all this time I thought Tyson was the dominant one of the pair.

Actually,I believe that the Ross males were changing the roles of dominance by each passing year. In 2015/16 when they were in process to took-over the Avoca pride Fabio has been showing sign of be the dominant one.

RE: Birmingham Pride of lions - Tr1x24 - 11-14-2020

All lions change dominance in between them, some are just more time dominant then others..

RE: Birmingham Pride of lions - Potato - 11-14-2020

Tyson was always the more dominant one. Initially Fabio was believed to be dominant one, but that assumption was purely on their body size as Fabio is larger of the two Ross males. When it came however to compete for mating rights, Tyson showed himself to be the more dominant and that did not change. Mock mating are not sign of domination, but a form of bonding and it is not rare that less dominant male is mock mating the more dominant one.  Moreover you can never seen in mock mating any kind of aggression and if it would be about to determine dominance in the coalition then there would be some aggression for sure.

That is what I would, typically, expect. In a pair of lions, when one has a dark mane, and the other a lighter mane, especially when most other quantifiable attributes are essentially the same, I would expect the dark maned male to be the dominant one. Doesn't always work that way, but a majority of the time I would say it does.

Amazing to have the white lions visit us yesterday for the first time! Haven’t had goosebumps like that since first seeing the Mapogos!

Wow, that young white male is sure putting on some size. Big size certainly runs in the genes of that pride, especially when you look at him and BYM.

The Birmingham genes are one of the most strongest blood through the Timbavati area. This pride has been on Timbavati for decades and decades. This white boy definitely inherit the Ross and Birmingham genetic. A very strong lineage
