Since ''Modern weight and measurements of wild Pumas'' thread is merged into this one I will post Some Pumas weights here.


Many of these are from cases where Pumas are found in urban areas and in people's houses here in Brazil.

Extremely rare Caatinga female 30kg and the first Puma to be ever monitored in Caatinga. she was named Vitória.

''When Vitória was captured and examined for the first time by the team of biologist Cláudia B. Campos, in March 2017 she weighed 30 kg and measured 1.55m in length with her tail, she had the common size of a female puma (Puma concolor) from Caatinga which is smaller than females of other biomes. Her age was estimated at 6 years old, quite young for an animal with the potential to live until 20 years. Her breasts indicated that she had already had cubs, but she was not lactating. From Alberta cougars' study on feeding ecology, 82 kg male:

"One male cougar in Knopff's study tipped the scales at 180 pounds and primarily fed on moose and feral horses."

68 kg cougar shot in Texas:

"The big cat weighed in at 150 pounds and was 68 inches long from nose to buttocks. It’s tail alone was 32 inches long."

1 and a half cub/subadult hunted in Nebraska, 52 kg.

"The mountain lion, the first and only cat killed so far this season, was about 1½ years old and weighed 115 pounds, said Sam Wilson, furbearer and carnivore manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission."

Unisul teachers capture 52kg Puma in Laguna - Brazil

Still according to May, this is a young cat that weighs an average of 52 kilos. "We think it's an animal looking for a new area to settle in, we call it a scattered animal, which probably entered the region of Imbituba where it was seen last week".
