RE: Birmingham Coalition Male Lineage - Duco Ndona - 05-04-2023

I think Londolozi is far to close to their natal pride for them to settle down. They would also get bored of the Tsalala lioness pretty quickly and become a danger to other prides.
Ideally they get chased around some more and settle down in a spot much further away. By removing an older coalition that just raised its last litter to adulthood.

Its good to see that the seperated male has recovered. We would need some more footage of him in action to see how wel he has healed, but he seems to be able to move around enough to keep up with the others.

Its not clear yet where they will settle, they roam whole Sabi Sands for now (except far north).

They still might leave Sabi Sands aswell.

The run-ins they had with Gijimas and NK is exactly what they need in this phase. This is great News, hope the older boy fully heals.

The four Kambula Brothers successfully hunt a young buffalo.  Such is the circle of life

RE: Birmingham Coalition Male Lineage - Robot00 - 05-05-2023

After seeing the three boys fighting their older half brother recently my hope for their coalition forming has evaporated. Luckily their fourth brother has been reunited. At least they'll be four strong instead of five strong.

Hopefully they'll hang in sabi sands by year's end. By then they'll be strong and confident to challenge for prides and we can witness their conquest instead of them disappearing into oblivion that is the KNP

Wouldn't be long before we get a Habsburg coalition though. If the lions start doing that.

RE: Birmingham Coalition Male Lineage - Mapokser - 05-05-2023

@Duco Ndona it's not necessarily a problem to be a neighbor to your natal pride, it has happened many times, OM was a neighbor to the Othawa pride, Rollercoasters were a neighbor to the Charleston pride, IIRC Charleston males were a neighbor to the Charleston pride.

It might even be a good thing having a potentially less aggressive neighbor. Still it's true that currently all the prides in SS have small cubs, the exception being the Tsalala female and the nomadic Talamati pride. If the Talamati pride were to settle in Londolozi ( which is mostly empty ), Kambula males would have enough to distract them for some 2 years or so, add to that the months that it will take for them to become fully territorial and you have enough time for everybody else raise the new generation.

Its still something that preferably is avoided as it lowers the genetic diversity in an area.

Londolozi also isn't exactly empty. But rather a border land between various other prides and coalitions. Not the best spot to wedge a new pride in if you want to avoid a fight.

I didn't know they fought each other. Is that the brother who went into Kruger? Didn't 2 brothers head into Kruger?

Its good for him to roam outside western sector, meaning more chances he finds and links with new males/lions.

One thousand percent concur.  I had wished that somehow he and Tumbela could set aside hostilities and form an union.  But it looks like wasnt meant to be….the next best is for him to find new mates in new pastures
