L Mark greeting one of his daughters of Patdev litter (a litter of 5. Keep an eye out for a male of this litter in the future):

Chota Bheem has been entrusted with raising this litter of 4 as their mother, Tara is raising a just born litter of 2 cubs not older than 2 months old. Weird behaviour.

Bajrang with Ra’s litter of 4:

the cub’s mother is dead, just found out a couple days ago. the tigress found dead in Warwat was Raaka’s mate and this cub’s mother.

Chandrapur: The orphaned litter of the tigress found dead in Chandrapur buffer range of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) was rescued on Saturday morning.

The carcass of the tigress was found in Varvat forest under Chandrapur buffer range of TATR on March 5. The 10-day-old carcass was in a completely decomposed condition.

Foresters, however, were aware about the tigress having a five-month-old cub and were looking for it.

Sources said the cub had starting moving with its father, popularly known as ‘Raka’, in the buffer zone after its mother’s death. A video of the cub playing with ‘Raka’ too had gone viral on social media.

As ‘Raka’ went after a tigress for mating, he deserted the cub which was captured by the foresters. The cub was put in a cage and sent to the Transit Treatment Centre.

Massive Baisanghat aka T46 with cubs of Sarmilee female:

RE: Male Tigers with Cubs - Rage2277 - 06-21-2023

didn't know he had cubs with uma's daughter that's awesome @Ashutosh

RE: Male Tigers with Cubs - Ashutosh - 06-21-2023

@Rage2277, only some part of his territory falls into the tourism zone, so we barely get to know his behaviour. But, I have a feeling he is more dominant than Umarpani also. He has been going strong for some time now. Even Uma in his prime tolerated Baisanghat intruding now and then. Later, Baisanghat took a chunk of his territory. Can’t know for sure which male finally pushed Uma out but won’t be surprised if it was Baisanghat (most likely it was Neela Nala).

There’s a reason T-46 wasn’t seen often throughout Uma’s prime. That area undoubtedly belonged to him. T-46, Jamuntola, T-50 all made forays in and out of Mukki but none stuck around the way the big 4 did and certainly not as long as Uma.
The fact that you see T-46 often in Mukki now is a testament to his lack of dominance then.

RE: Male Tigers with Cubs - Roflcopters - 06-21-2023

@Ashutosh

Uma never tolerated any tiger in his true prime, all of his rivals were all taken out at some point. from thin stripe, Bheema, KF & CM. later came Jamuntola & Garhi. they too couldn’t withstand the dominance of Uma. it was only towards Uma being 10+ is when he really began to lose control of Mukki.

RE: Male Tigers with Cubs - Ashutosh - 06-21-2023

Except you don’t see Baisanghat even now in Mukki as most of his territory is still in the non-tourism zone. He is barely photographed at all even now. As @Rage2277 noted we barely know about any of his mates or cubs.

And, for all of Uma’s supposed dominance how many cubs did he father and protect? A male tiger’s reign isn’t just based on territory size. If you compared Bheem’s territory from Bandhavgarh or Bajrang’s from Tadoba, they both had territories 2.5-3 times bigger than Uma’s. Not to mention both of those have fathered and raised many cubs. Uma couldn’t do that.

Baisanghat on the other hand has successfully protected and raised a couple of litters that we know of (most probably has done more in the non-tourism area). He was seen in and out of Mukki but how many times did Uma confront him about it? Garhi used to do the same. Their territories were big enough for them to patrol and protect. They weren’t being expansionist when they ventured into Mukki.

T-46 is photographed far more often in Mukki now, just look at the last 2 years. You have way more images of him than you had from 2018-early 21’

Uma has 4-6 cubs alive I believe atm and he fathered more but not all made it. As well as mating with multiple females/multiple seasons so who knows how many cubs he actually sired. Not to mention, what exactly would that have to do with his dominance? He dominated the most prolific territory in Kanha, there’s no denying it.

And where are you getting your territorial size claims? Kanha is much larger than both Tadoba and Bandhavgarh with a larger Tiger population. And within Kanha, Mukki is probably the largest core zone and was dominated by Uma, so I’m not sure your math works there.

T-46 also has no confirmed litters raised until recently where we still don’t even know they are his.

The fact is that when it comes to Kanha “Mukki particularly” No Tiger was more dominant than Uma for modern times.Hence why he frequented there his entire life while all others came and went or are completely gone.
