Its said she was actually hiding the cub and almost drowned it in the process, the other Cubs had already escaped but T57 wasn't interested in mating and let the Cubs be.

Which is quite rare. It is shocking that newer generation tigers seem to be very affectionate towards their cubs
This reveals a really exciting and unknown chapter of tiger’s social behaviour. Most of the times this male tiger has been spotted spending time with mother & cubs and even sharing a meal. A new learning for the tiger experts. It will be interesting to see how successful will be a male tiger in raising cubs.

Not quite a male with cubs, but it shows how underrated tigers are as fathers
"In his book "Tiger Trails in Assam" (1961), a tea planter named Patrick Hanley describes finding a heavily pregnant tigress lying in tall elephant grass at the edge of a tea estate. For two weeks, a male brought her portions of kills, and when he arrived he would call out to her with a strange cry as if asking her to come out and start eating"

Do you really think that, generation after generation (male) tigers are able to evolve their behaviour towards their cubs ? Because perhaps the circumstances (which ones ? Greater human pressures than before ?) are commanding it to them ?

I'm not sure, it's an interesting theory but I think Tigers today act as they did in the past we just didn't have the means of studying them the same way we do now.
