Where to go next? - Pckts - 08-01-2019
I'm already thinking of where to go next, right now I'm leaning towards Patagonia.
Not only to see Cougars but from what I've heard from others who've been there, Patagonia is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. It's also a place for active travelers with it's hiking and kayaking through the Glaciers, so it's definitely a place that interests me.
But to be honest, my first choice was Alaska to see Grizzlies or maybe the Arctic to see Polar Bears but both options are incredibly expensive.
I still hope to see either, so if anyone has any other options on how to see them in the wild, let me know.
Any other ideas are welcomed as well, I'm just tossing around some things at the moment and maybe one of you has another option I'm not aware of.

Hey @Pckts I have been living in the south of Chile for more than a year now and I have done the whole Chilean Patagonia stretch (Starting with Carretera Austral) and also been to Tierra del Fuego on the Argentinean side.
If you are expecting to see Cougars then you are gonna be disappointed mostly. They are rarely seen. However, It's definitely one of the most beautiful places on earth as you said and I can confirm that. So if you can make yourself content without a Cougar sighting then don't think twice about visiting Patagonia. The best time is January-February.
And apart from it, I would suggest going to Bhutan or the Himalayan side of India or Nepal. The people are amazing and the landscapes are breathtaking as well. Most importantly they are different from the other parts of the country. Btw, Bhutan is simply a magical country.
Anyways, PM if you want to talk about any experiences in details. I hope others can suggest some places as well around the world. I am interested to know people's experiences as well.

I really wanted to go see Gorillas but just recently I believe one tourist and her guide were captured in Uganda
I would love to see the Siberian Wilderness but if I'm being honest, sitting in a hide isn't what I prefer when I go on these trips. I'm far too antsy and I doubt my patience would hold up there for long.
Australia/New Zealand are on my list but not for wildlife so I'll hold off until the timing is right.

I have no idea if it is done, But under water must be a life time experience

When you look at eco tourism in Russian far east, check Alexander Batalov too. He is also having guests there and same time he is one of those, whose experience is undeniable. Based on what I´ve seen, his relationship to tigers is something like first love for humans, but ongoing. I bet, that he has a lot of stories/good information too, while showing places to visitors. I haven´t looked closer what kind of options there are related to him, but should be easy to check.

Now that'd be great and they have some offerings when you go see Grizzlies or Polar Bears but the pricing is so expensive. No joke, the best prices I've seen for a week or so with fairly decent accommodations not including flights cost around $5500-$10,000 usd per person. That starting price is more than double what it costs to go on safaris through Africa, India and Brazil.
I have done cage diving with Galapagos Sharks in Hawaii and it was awesome but I don't do great on bigger boats like that so I can get sick from time to time which I did then.
I had friends go to Australia last year for GW. Shark cage diving and they did it through a well known company and were still unsuccessful. But regardless, I have to at least attempt to shark dive with Great Whites. I'm sure I'll go to Australia at some point I will no doubt add shark diving to my trip itinerary.

@Pckts, if you are looking in India and something a bit different, I would suggest Namdapha in Arunachal Pradesh. From elevations of 200m to 4200m, the landscape and ecology changes dramatically and it is at the junction of three biodiversity zones. Not a lot of travellers even know about it, and is relatively unknown.
