PRINCE | Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Bandipur

He is definitely my favorite, the muscular 'hulk' of the south, it is always a pleasure watching him wandering about carelessly with so much tourist activity around him. Old and battered yet still on the throne, i admire him for a lot of reasons. Long live the Prince.

TIGER | T64 | Ranthambore Tiger Reserve

T-64, then a sub-adult about to take a short nap after feeding from his recent sambur deer kill. After a while, not finding peace with all the tourist commotion, he climbed up a steep cliff, and disappeared atop a hill, I have never seen anything like it, it was so delightful to see how he navigated such a steep cliff.

TIGER T-64 navigating a rocky slope Ranthambore National Park

One can imagine the strength of the animal, when it can climb such a steep slope filled with boulders. This guy made it look easy, he just climbed all the way up and disappeared within 3 mins. It was a wonderful sight, a true demonstration of power and intelligence.

As gracious as she can get - Noor (2014).

The afternoon heat was intense so was our search for the big cats, eyes wide open and ears listening to alarm calls, sweat pouring down in the heat. Then as if by some magic she put an appearance, she gracefully walked along the jeep in a distance for sometime and then disappeared back into the jungle. Was an amazing experience

Getting ready to stalk

TIGER - Ranthambore

After following him for about 2 kms, he stumbled upon a herd of chital and a nilgai (blue bull). Before we could think of his next move, it happened. He stalked and charged and made a kill, the nilgai wasn't lucky. was amazing to witness something very few people had seen. i could feel the sweat drain over my body and my hair stand up all over. Trust me, you have to see to believe the speed of a charging TIGER.

'In the arms of death'

TIGER-T6 | suffocating Nilgai | Ranthambhore National Park

After an intense search for about 45 mins, we ended up retracing the track to way out when we came across about 5 jeeps following a handsome male which was strolling about randomly marking his territory. He didn't bother about the continued presence of the vehicles, at times the jeeps had to be reversed to let the king cross the safari tracks, which he did about four times,
For about 3 kms we followed him, at 1st it looked as if he was roaming about aimlessly and that's when he rolled down on deer droppings and rolled on it repeatedly, that was the 1st clue he gave us that actually he was looking for his next meal, he was trying to mask his own smell,
Pressing on, an opportunity presented for the king in the form of a female Nilgai and 2 cheetal deers standing on a hillside. He immediately started stalking them using a dry stream bed and started the chase, the speed was lightning fast and he went for the cheetals, but both of them ran downhill and he knew his chances were slim, and targeted the nilgai, which by now ran up the hill to escape the other side, the chase continued to the other side and downhill, the nilgai tripped and simultaneously the tiger caught the nilgai, and both of them landed on the ground,
With a firm bite on the windpipe and it was just matter of time for the nilgai, eventually it died of strangulation and finally the king could take a breather, it was the ultimate sighting any photographer could ask for,.

After a much needed rest from bringing down a pregnant female nilgai, he dragged the carcass under the safety of a tree to avoid being spotted by winged scavengers from the sky. He then started feeding from the rump of the carcass as the evening light fell on his face, and that exact moment i remembered the phrase

Simple & Powerful Post Production Tip
==============================
One of the common issues we face is the haze and the image looks very dull as seen in the top pic. This happens due to the haze, mist, camera to subject distance, lens used and other parameters.

A very simple and powerful tip to correct it is to use the DeHaze option in Adobe Camera RAW (under the Fx tab) and move the slider up till the haze goes away.

You can further do the basic adjustments in ACR to complete the processing. Please refer to the adjustments done which is pasted on the pic.

Simple, yet powerful! Any queries? shoot!

Feel free to share and help others learn.

BASKING IN THE GLORY!!

Made this image in my last trip at Kanha National Park in Mukki zone.
Were fortune enough to experience the different moods of this young and charismatic male called as CM (Chota Munna) or Link 7… He as so desperate looking for a mate. We heard him roaring and roaming around his territory and making his presence felt in three consecutive safaris….
