From Tiger Trackers:
It’s been a while since our last posting but we hopefully make up for it by sharing some interesting news even if it happens to be a terrible one.

While Ustad (T-24) languishes in captivity, courtesy the Forest department of RTR’s covert yet swift operation with remarkable precision, the successor-in-waiting as widely anticipated, could perhaps turn out to be the young Male, T-57. He was sighted resting peacefully at the Guptaji Anicut located in the Kalapani area of Kundal (Zone-6, which remains open for tourism throughout the year) on 24th of September 2015. Needless to mention, this area belonged to Ustad (T-24) during whose reign, even his long-time adversary Kumbha (T-34) didn’t dare tread into this area.

Apparently Tigress Noor (T-39) seems to be doing her best to avoid confrontation with T-57 by staying away from this area altogether while her 2 male cubs remain wary of the intruder. It is highly likely that Noor might either engage in courtship with him to lure him away from the cubs or take on the intruder in a brutal fight. Meanwhile, a confrontation between T-57 and the cubs could perhaps prove to be fatal for the latter. We hope the cubs do not end up paying a huge price for the man-made disaster though.

Male T-57, Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, September 2015.

'Blue Eye', the male tiger of BTR, who has beautiful bluish eyes, was seen mating with a young tigress last month. Its great news since 'Blue Eye' was grievously injured in territorial fight a couple of years before (Look at the picture below, taken at that time). The second picture was taken by Salim Ali from Ranthambhor, who stayed and visited the forest of BTR with me, when he came across 'Blue Eye' in mating before the tiger got injuries. I pray that 'Blue Eye's progeny will have eyes like their father.

Tala Camp, Bandhavgarh

Two tigers were reported fighting fiercely in Mardari Beat in BTR few days before. One of the fighting tigers turned out to be the 'Blue Eye'. The number of tigers in BTR has gone up, resulting in deadly fights either for the territories or to save the cubs, as happened in the case of Kankati. Though it seems a bit disturbing but it is also an indication that the number of tigers is going up. Its very encouraging indeed.

This is the report

"ROARrrrr for Jungle Tiger
October 4 at 7:17pm ·

Tiger found dead in Tadoba core zone ...
CHANDRAPUR: Yet another full grown tiger was found dead in core zone of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. Semi-decomposed body of a male tiger was found in Bhanuskhindi area of Tadoba range in TATR on Friday evening. A total of eight tigers have died in Chandrapur district this year. The post mortem was carried out on Saturday.
"Our forest guard and van majoor found the bloated body on the bank of nullah on the border of compartment no. 64 and 65. As the post mortem could not be carried out in night, guards were posted to protect the body. The post mortem was carried out by a team of government veterinary doctors on Saturday, said field director, TATR, GP Garad. He ruled out poaching and claimed that all the body parts were found intact.
Wildlife activist however questioned the delay in the recovery of tiger's body and claimed that had the Bhanuskhindi area been open to tourists, the tiger carcass could have been found much earlier. Garad however explained that Bhauskhidi trail has been closed since last few years and no tourist can go there. It is on the border of the core and agricultural fields lay ahead beyond this point. There is no forest cushion on the border of core area and even taking a vehicle there is a difficult task, he said.
In yet another case, a tiger was killed in a hit-and-run case in FDCM Junona range on April 23. Yet another tiger was killed in territorial fight near Sarnagarh hillocks in Talodhi range on May 11. Previous tiger deaths in TATR were reported in Jamni beat of Tadoba range on June 23. Later, one tiger was found killed in territorial fight in the right canal of Gosikhurd project in Sindewahi FDCM range June 29."
