(12-02-2023, 10:01 PM)Ashutosh Wrote: @Rage2277, yeah his build is very much like the Muditara male. Speaking of Mahaman male, has he been sighted this season?

Bandhavgarh’s tourism area has only younger males. All older ones have died or pushed out. Bheem (that tumour definitely got him although someone said an elephant killed him when he attacked a calf), Bamerason, Chakradhara males, Mangu, Jobhi and now Mahaman all gone. I think the oldest right now would Chota Bheem and Pujari who are 6 years old.

I think Mahaman is gone. I have not seen any pictures of him this season. I think the Chakradhara boys are still around in Tala, but they always have been very difficult to spot. Anyway, I've been surprised by the lack of male sightings in Magdhi this season. You get Jamhol occasionally, and that's about it. territory

@Rage2277 is that male you posted the one the Bandhavgarh guides have been calling Jobi Jr?

Bajrang, still going strong in Tala. Lots of footage from him in the Ghodademon area near Badi Gufa in Tala. Guides are saying he is trying to hold territory in all three zones but as far as I can tell, he has only been spotted in Tala this season and his mate from Khitauli, Raa, is now with Dhamokhar male.

Dadiyal from Belara buffer, Tadoba. Honestly am surprised that he and V7 and still going strong. Always thought he was an impressive specimen.

His son is now a big boy too, Chota Dadiyal, now occupying Bajrang's old Moharli territories and often overlapping into the buffer.

If you want to see male tigers in Tadoba, the buffer is the place to go. Moharli buffers are absolutely teeming with males. Other than Chota Dadiyal, Taru, Shambhu, Paras, Maya's son, 5225 have all been spotted this year. Taru already fought with Paras a few weeks ago and fought with Shambhu yesterday. Some of these males will have to be pushed out. Mind boggling that this entire territory + more was once ruled by Bajrang alone.

Taru vs Shambhu

 aditya.panda -
I’ve seen tigers on close to two thousand occasions across India’s tiger landscapes in my life. But, something that has always hurt is that despite all my time with wild tigers, I had never been able to see one in the forests that I’ve worked all my life to conserve: the tiger forests of my home state, Odisha. This has been so because Odisha’s tigers had been in decline through the 1990s and 2000s. In the few places they survived, they did so in such poor densities and disturbed conditions that it was practically impossible to see them. Even field staff, working every day in those habitats for years, rarely, if ever, got to see one.

But things are now changing.

The Odisha Wildlife Wing is now very serious about reviving tigers, and our #tigers are certainly making a comeback. A few days ago, I was in the Similipal Tiger Reserve on an official visit, on invitation from the Similipal Tiger Conservation Foundation. I spent my time looking at the excellent new measures in place for wildlife and habitat management, protection and tiger monitoring. With frost on the ground and sunlight filtering through the sal canopy, I was on an early morning drive when I suddenly came across this stunning young male tiger in beautiful winter coat. My first tiger in Odisha and perhaps the first ever wild tiger in the state to be photographed “normally” with a DSLR camera! This is T-35. He is about three years old and is actively establishing his dominion over the best parts of the core area. Similipal’s tiger population is perhaps at its best ever in many years today. Tigers are breeding and their population is growing. Over 1200 square kilometres of inviolate core habitat is available to them—among the highest in the country. Prey base is increasing. A dedicated, hardworking field staff corps led by a dynamic field director are going above and beyond to ensure tiger revival in Similipal. May their tribe increase, flourish and rule over the wilds of Odisha for all time to come!

But things are now changing.

Dominant male tiger of Kolsa

Son of Khali & Sharmili from Agarzari zone of Moharli range. This mighty male tiger pushed back heavyweights of Kolsa like Shiva male tiger ( son of Wagdoh) and Dadiyal male tiger ( son of Shivaji male tiger ) from this beautiful core zone forest of Kolsa. C1 is the name given to this tiger by department. Kuwani female has cubs from this male and 2 other non tourism female has cubs from this male. He is spreading his bloodline across Kolsa range . Age been his side he looks to be very strong contender to hold this territory for long.  C1 has his brother around pangdi bufferzone SK male tiger. I have been watching these 3 male tiger brother C1 , SK & the third one since they were born around Agarzari panzar area 2018 -19.

The insane frame of Tuli Puliya male, Kishanpur:

RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - kingrifter - 01-16-2024

Shiva male, son of Waghdoh is no more. One of the biggest males I have ever seen from Tadoba, just like his father.

Another missing one from Bandhavgarh, the iconic Mahaman.

Maya's son, aka Y-Mark male in the Mohurli buffers in Tadoba. He has been keeping out of the way of the other dominant males but is occasionally sighted across Devada, Junona, and Agarzari.

Chota Dadiyal from Tadoba is looking quite massive now.

Another seldom sighted male, currently ruling the Pangdi buffers in Tadoba. This is SK male, who is the brother of C1, current ruler of Kolsa. Both these males come from Agarzari, where they were born to the late Sharmili and Khali.

Jobi Jr male from Bandhavgarh. He in Magdhi now, and is possibly the reason for Mahaman's departure. I have seen very few photos of this male, does anyone know of his origin?

*This image is copyright of its original author

The Chakradhara clan of Bandhavgarh remains a mystery to me. This extremely camera-shy group of tigers is currently dominant across several parts of Tala and has contributed to the dearth of sightings since the days of B2 and Bamera. I came across this picture of a tiger, called "Chakradhara male" by the photographer.

However, the stripe pattern is different from the male I have known since 2019 as the Chakradhara male. He has an upside down trident on his forehead and was born to Chakradhara female and Ranchha male. He shows up in a 2019 Bandhavgarh tiger guide as "Trident". Can anyone tell me more about these different Chakradhara males?

Massive Kishanpur male - is this Tulli Puliya Male?

An icon of Dudhwa, Gabbar/Charger male.

The massive Baisanghat male in his prime.

One of the lesser sighted Kanha males - Andhkuan male (T-129).

RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Rage2277 - 01-17-2024

The new kid from jobi reminds me of the muditara male the husky male in the viral video crossing the road also the other chakrandara males are half brothers of trident and that is indeed the tuli puliya male they call him rustom @kingrifter

Honestly, I know names get updated over time as the old ones get pushed out and new ones occupy the same territory, but the situation with these Bandhavgarh males is so confusing. So I thought I'd post some more obscure adults from the recent past.

Here's the Mudatara male in the Bandhavgarh 2019 book.

We then have Ghodademon male, aka Banbehi male (cub of Wakeeta). When I was at Bandhavgarh in 2023, I was at Ghodademon and heard talk of a male with the same name. Is this one dead?

*This image is copyright of its original author

7D male, son of Spotty and Trishul Chakradhara male (courtesy Suyash Keshri). 7A is in Panpatha, where is this guy?

*This image is copyright of its original author

Chota Charger, brother of Mahaman male. I know he was around in the mid 2010s, but not sure what happened to him. The photographers below say they saw him in 2023, so he must be 11 here. I don't know where they would've seen him, though.

Rancha male, allegedly the father of Trishul/Chakradhara male. I have seen very few pictures of this Tala male.

Kallu, son of Mirchani female who was driven off by B2.
