Is Shiva the only male child of Waghdoh? Or does waghdoh have any other male kids?

RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Roflcopters - 07-03-2022

Shiva is the only male that stayed around Tadoba. all the other males dispersed to different areas outside of Tadoba.

Old man Tarzan in Pench (I guess time catches upto even the biggest ones out there). The parallel between him and Uma is very interesting. Both born in the same year and their decline is similarly timed.

@Roflcopters, if Waghdoh had fathered 40 cubs as claimed, statistically it is not feasible that only Shiva became a dominant male. Most likely reason is he didn’t father that many cubs. Some of the others he did father are in core but even then you have never heard any of them. Shiva though probably makes up for it. What an absolute unit he is!!! Pity he is rarely seen.

@Ashutosh

I can assure you, he did father over 40 cubs and it’s actually pretty normal for the cubs to not stick around. high chance that you would only see a handful within the park when they reach adult-hood. in Wagdoh’s case. Shiva was the only son that stayed around. his daughters as we know have been ruling parts of Tadoba for a while. overall, out of the 40 something cubs he sired. at best, 5-6 stuck around while the rest moved on. look at Bajrang for example, he sired more cubs than Wagdoh. yet we have never seen one that stuck around to rule Tadoba. it’s very normal for tigers to disperse and find territories elsewhere. specially in high-density tiger parks. where space is limited and tiger numbers are continuing to increase at an alarming rate.

one of the oldest tigers in Tadoba at the moment. he rules the non tourism area of core upto Ambezari meadow of Irai backwaters. Bajrang and Taru (Paras) territories also overlaps with his and so far. there has been no fights between the three.

it’s pretty much the norm in every high-populated park. as soon as the cubs become independent. that’s when their real life journey begins. they no longer get the protection of mom and dad. they’re usually forced out of their home territories to go fend for themselves. this includes competition for food. territory and areas. often times in highly populated parks. their movements are restricted and a resident tiger is a serious threat to the safety of any sub-adult. helpless and determined to survive. most of these tigers disperse in search for territories. some of them, if we are lucky. we’ll witness them resurface at some point. maybe in a different park and sometimes. that may or may not happen. Matkasur and Maya’s boy rules Umred Karhandla, Bajrang’s daughter is also in Umred. Jai’s kids from Umred reside in Brahmapuri forest division and Umred. plenty of tigers from Tadoba also made their way to Nagzira. this just goes to show how frequently this happens. also on that note. i forgot to add. Collarwali and W female are the two daughters of Lara and Bajrang that did stay around Tadoba and are resident tigresses.

@Roflcopters, Ambeutara male isn’t that old. You are mistaking him for someone else. He is around 6 years old. This is confirmed by the picture you posted and the pinkness of his nose. Compare that to Shiva’s nose which is grey rather than pink, telling us he over 11 years old at least.

Thanks for the response @Roflcopters .  Other than Shiva, the other male cubs of wagdoh also included Bhola and Shankar right? what happened to them?

RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Roflcopters - 07-05-2022

he is 12-13 years old @Ashutosh

here is a post by Jignesh Patel from 2019. he was estimated to be 9 years old at the time and was kicked out of Kolsa by Shiva in 2019. he spent some time in Mamla buffer and shortly after, he moved towards Teliya. presence of Bajrang in the area made him move towards Adegaon/Dewada/Junona and even Agarzari for a bit. he lived under the shadows and avoided conflict with both Khali and Bajrang. after Khali’s demise, he was one of the contender for Agarzari but Taru aka Paras beat him to it. he now has a territory in non tourism area of core up to Ambezari meadow of Irai back waters.

disappeared without a trace, most likely surviving somewhere outside of Tadoba if they made it past sub-adult stages.
