Things are swiftly coming to an end for the former king of Ranthambore, T-28, aka Star Male, aka Sitara. He was, what his predecessor BambooRam didn't live long enough to be!!!

I once read in a travelogue, an article by a serial safari-goer, where he mentioned him to be much larger than all his peers..with his dimensions superior even to Shivaji. However his small head, thinner neck & skinny figure didn't let it be evident in the photographs.
Being pushed around, old & frail, it seems like time is almost up for this big guy...

Quiet & young, after taking over Ustad's home-range, he was recently sighted at Zone-3 & is said to be expanding recently. Hopefully he'll prove to be ol' Star's proper successor.

Back in 2014, the iconic male tiger, Jai, was with the famous tigress, Chandi, at Umred Karhandla wildlife sanctuary. They had four cubs, Bahu, Bali, Bhadra and Barkha — three males and one female.

Bali aka. Santa (2.5 yrs) was last sighted at the Kuhi range of Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary in August 2016, when he had killed a cow.

On Friday, wildlife lover and photographer Shariq Mohammed Surewani sighted Bali while on a safari.
Shariq who loves exploring off beat jungles, not frequented by tiger-chasing tourists, said that he chose the quiet route inside the Mansingh Deo Sanctuary, Pench Tiger Reserve and entered the forest from the Surewani gate along with two friends who were visiting the jungle for the first time.
“We entered at around 5.30 am and by around 6.40 am we saw a male tiger and it was almost walking close to the same route that we were moving on for over 45 minutes and we took several photographs as well as videos,” informed Shariq. He added that his curiosity only multiplied on seeing that the tiger was not marking its territory and despite walking for almost three kilometres, it seemed from its behaviour that it was in a completely new territory.
According to Shariq, this behaviour of the tiger caught his attention and as soon as he returned from the safari, he contacted wildlife photographer Vinit Arora who has a huge database of tiger images as well as Mohammed Junaid.

According to Shariq even the forest officials from Nagpur as well as Pench Tiger Reserve contacted him for details of the tiger and by Friday evening they confirmed that it was indeed Bali.

While there is no exact proof about the corridor that Bali, who must have travelled from the Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary (UKWS), even crossing two national highways & a state highwsy on the way, took to reach Pench, experts feel he may have taken started off at Tarna, then Satara and Kuhi, to Adam, Bhivkund and Rajola, and reached Mouda, before walking to Ramtek and finally reaching Nagalwadi.

PS:
Thid is Saras Lodhi's snap Jaichand (T-5)..

I've not been here for a long time but my two cents on the Kanha dynasty, I think it's fascinating and Umarpani is absolutely dominating the scene, claiming bheema and kf and defeating a big chotta munna. He will surely go down with some of the greats such as Raja and B2 at this rate.
