Can't believe that they were partially descended from the smaller Indochinese tigers.

I think that the habitat will dictate the size, regardless of the sub species. I honestly believe that if you took different tiger "sub species" and introduced them to foreign environments (Siberia/India/Sunderbans etc) that regardless of the Tiger, eventually the big cat would adapt to the modern cat we now see in those areas.

Also like you said, just because a bengal breeds with an indo doesn't mean the offspring will be small, same like we have seen with amur/bengal hybrids or Sumatran/Amur hybrids as well.

@Pckts

PS, the different genetic combination can also produce different probability and outcome.

Sometimes we also saw that the hybridization between the two large subspecies like Amur and Bengal is rather counterproductive; the offspring ended up being smaller and weaker than both parents.

It is likely that the initial eastern Bengal population was not large albeit comparable in size with the Sundarbans tigers, but when they mixed with the Indochinese tiger population nearby, their offspring has suddenly turned into tigerzilla. And the rich ecosystems in the local area also helps as a complement.

Mahaman Flehmening!
The pheromones were quite rich in the site I believe as he started the Flehmen response after smelling a tuft of grass on the bank of the Sukhi waterhole!

Very similar proportions to madla for sure, I wish we could get some data on the size.

Every adult has an unseen hidden child with in them. Its not proven therotitcally though but practically, certain times we wish we where kids and that reflects back when we turn out to be naughty & get along kidding around.

Here is such a childish behaviour from the mighty Prince of Bandipur National Park, where he wished to portray whats happening around in a cute way and that is displayed through his facial as well as blown out expression.
