Measurements of Lolong
Lolong was one of the largest crocodiles ever measured from snout to tail, he was a saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) measured 6.17 m (20 ft 3 in) and weighed 1,075 kg (2,370 lb),he died in captivity on 10 February 2013 from pneumonia and cardiac arrest.
In November 2011, Australian crocodile expert Dr. Adam Britton of National Geographic sedated and measured Lolong in his enclosure and confirmed him as the world's largest crocodile ever caught and placed in captivity.
Lolong was caught in a Bunawan creek in the province of Agusan del Sur in the Philippines on 3 September 2011.

Pictures of famous croc named Smaug who has appeared in many films in National Geographic, it is a very powerful Crocodylus porosus that measures 5 meters long.

@Rishi, do you have an idea what is currently the average and the maximal size of saltwater crocodiles in Sundarban? Are they larger or smaller than those in Australia. Is this specie thriving or its endangered in Sundarban mangrove forests?

“During the seven-day long crocodile census from January 3 to 10, we sighted 610 hatchlings, 338 yearlings, 267 juveniles, 172 sub-adults and 311 adult reptiles,” informed Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Bhitarkanika National Park Bimal Prasanna Acharya on Wednesday. Last year, the Forest officials had found 608 hatchlings, 334 yearlings, 266 juveniles, 172 sub-adults and 302 adults reptiles while in 2016, the count was 597 hatchlings, 342 yearlings, 269 juveniles, 164 sub-adults and 299 adult crocodiles, Acharya said.

Apart from Gori, the 43-year-old albino crocodile which resides in a pen in Bhitarkanika, the Forest officials have also sighted around .12 such albino reptiles of which seven are more than 18 feet in length. Three giant crocodiles, which are more than 20 feet long, have also been sighted in the water bodies of the park, said Dr Sudhakar Kar, a former crocodile research officer of Forest and Wildlife department of the State who led the 20-member team for the census.

I read that the salties from South India were also huge, perhaps as large as their eastern counterparts.

I hope this is not considered as "off topic", not my intentions. But, is there really much of a size difference between a salty and a Nile crocodile?

The salty and the Nile croc are the two biggest extant crocs, the salty being a little bit longer in average. But look at the famous contemporary "Gustave", Nile croc from Burundi, more than 5m50 long, may be more than 6 meters:

At the beginning of the XXth century about the Nile crocs they was said to be able to reach 6 or seven meters long. Tales or veridic accounts from this epoch when the Nile crocs were much more numerous than today ? Because of the intensiv hunting their average life is shorter, and thus, growing up all their life, chances to see one "monster big croc" are much more reduced.

I live in east coast of South India. I never heard of such big crocs, in fact they are rare from 1950's and in our state they are only found in some coastal zones. In past month, some fisherman caught a small croc juvenile about 2 mts in our district. I think you understood why they are low, coz they will be killed on site.

You can see majority of the mangrove sites are from Krishna and Godavari rivers (major water source to our states), and one of the important occupation is fishing, hence these zones are fishing zones or grounds.
