The mating process is typical of most large mammals, but the ritual which takes place before is anything but typical. When romance is on the cards, the female chase her man. Then a special ritual starts. It is called the ' Bluff and Bluster ' ritual, where the males do get aggressive thrashing their heads.It can lead to the pair wrestling and fighting prior to copulation, often biting and butting each other.It is very violent, complicated and dangerous. On a lot of occasions there have been fatal incidents bcos of the injuries sustained. Definitely a rare sight and lucky as we got them on the open..pic from Kaziranga.

The Unicorn Rhinoceros (Elasmotherium) has always been my favorite species of rhino with the White Rhinoceros being in second place, and the Great One-Horned (Indian) Rhinoceros as my third. I just can't imagine what Kaziranga would be like if it had absolutely no rhinos; it probably be almost desolate without a large sum of large tigers.
I would like to post new pictures of wild and large White Rhinos, but I am creating another thread at the moment titled, "Animal Art". (I have some BRILLIANT animal art/drawings that would be an eye-catcher for any appreciating member.)

Wild Water Buffalo (Bubalus arnee)
Wild Water Buffalo is listed as Endangered Specie's and found only in Assam (Kaziranga ) and a very small population in Udanti Wildlife sanctuary,Chattisgarh.Water Buffalo's are huge in size and are well known for their aggressive behaviour.Their horns are WIDE and can grow upto 2 meters.

The Splash of a Lifetime -For me !
When i travelled to Kaziranga this March of 2016, I was excited to see,The great Indian One-Horned Rhinos !.But at the same time, I was more excited to see AGAIN , The Great “Wild Water Buffalo’s”.Wild Buffalo’s are found only in Kaziranga and in Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary in Chattisgarh.When i was quite young i once witnessed this majestic creature in Udanti WLS.Big wide horns,Aggressive and un-doubtly majestic !.During my childhood visit into the wild.. in four days i could see only 1 Wild Buffalo in Udanti. In Kaziranga i enjoyed the ample of opportunities to study their behaviour and to document them.This is one of the Abstract image of Wild Water buffalo which i made in Kazi. Wild Buffalo’s horns can grow upto 2 meters in length and are quite wide and heavy ! It was just the normal weight of the head that made the amorphous water splash! Imagine with full force how aggressive they can be !
