RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Timbavati - 11-12-2020 A heartbreaking and somewhat disconcerting scene a few days ago when we found some of the mbiri lionesses and an orpen male still bloody as they lay among the remains of one of the koppies lionesses and two cubs after a brutal fight. It’s not unusual for lions to kill each other or cubs for that matter but to find the male still chewing on the lioness was definitely a first for me. Tough days for Koppies pride, they where 4 (or 5?) females strong just 1 year ago, now down to 1.. RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Hairy tummy - 11-13-2020 Brutal... Really brutal RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Tr1x24 - 11-13-2020 Orpen males and Mbiri pride: By ranger words, Buddy is doing ok, which is great news.. RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Timbavati - 11-18-2020 A truly beast of male lion on a territorial patrol through the grass of the Manyeleti Game Reserve in South Africa! The good looking Red road male! RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Spalea - 11-20-2020 I just come to discover this video. After having killed a buffalo during the night and having feasted on it, we can see the full-belly males in the early morning around the carcass. The night has been good for the pride. Small interaction with the hyenas at the end... RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Timbavati - 11-23-2020 The Red road male letting his presence known down in South of Manyeleti! The call of the wild.... RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Gijima - 11-26-2020 Interesting dynamics with Mbiri males and also Orphen Males interacting with RRM and Nharu Pride. RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Timbavati - 11-26-2020 The lion dynamics in the Manyeleti is heating up !! Recent news about Mbiri / Nharu coalition, Orpen males and the Red road male !!. The four Mbiri / Nharhu males are back with the Mbiri pride. They're looking in fantastic shape and have grown in size. Then the Nharu pride last week brought down a young elephant and they're feeding on it. the cubs, the Red road male and all the females, And the next morning the two Orpen males are there feeding with the pride. They actually managed to chase off Red road male not too far they were feeding as well the Nharu females have protected their cubs out off the limping Orpen male. Miraculously the Orpen males did not hurts to the Nharu cubs... Watch to above the video posted by @Gijima RE: Lions of Manyeleti - Gijima - 11-26-2020 (11-26-2020, 02:02 AM)TinoArmando Wrote: The lion dynamics in the Manyeleti is heating up !! These young males are looking in great condition and I’m not sure if Junior can fight them off alone anymore. Also, they mentioned Red Road and Orpen Males teaming up.... but I feel like that’s not very likely. I don’t think the Orpen males would accept those cubs with the Nharu females long term. While I somehow doubt RRM will join a coalition until he loses his pride, I do agree a joint venture with him and the Orpens would be a perfect fit, especially given Buddy's current condition. As well knowing that both males are in their prime and are one of the biggest lions around Manyeleti area if they form a coalition sound very promising without a doubt!! The future of the Nharu cubs for now, tends by a thread... Let's hope that Orpen males will back with the Mbiri pride or the last Koppies female. Even so, the Orpen males not have raised any cubs into the adulthood in Manyeleti if we had on count their time as dominant males in Manyeleti they should be a very unsuccessfully coalition in the area... Such a shame to be honest.(11-26-2020, 02:02 AM)TinoArmando Wrote: The lion dynamics in the Manyeleti is heating up !! The lion dynamics at somehow are a bit crazy at the moment, I often think and I would like think that I wasn't the first on thinking about that if the Orpen males someday took-over the Nharu pride will kills the RRM cubs but seems that they did not wanted do it. At least for now. The lions behavior surprising me every day |
