There is a weird study that differentiates African and Asian Leopards as possibly two different species. As in, there is more difference between the Leopards than Grizzly and Polar Bears.

While I do not want to dispute academic sources, I still think there should be more studies performed to reach that conclusion.

One thing to note is that there was still a relation between the different populations due to gene flow.

"Interestingly, our results suggest that after the divergence, the African populations remained genetically connected with the Asian populations, given that we detected gene ﬂow with a population represented by the Amur leopard lineage and the African leopards (Figure 5)."

I'm working on an open-source app 'Leopard Family Tree' that would complement this thread. But maybe such a database already exists but I was unable to find it. I know there are some research programs, but it seems data is not accessible to the average wildlife lover.
The app would consist of a database that can be displayed in a form of a table and also would plot a family tree, as in the images below. I will appreciate the feedback. Is such an app needed? Would you help to populate data in the database? Or something like this already exists?
