Mating pair - Northern Blonde Avoca male with the youngest Matimba daughter form Nkuhuma Pride. Sunrise safarilive 05/08/2019

Amazing roars!

RE: Avoca male lions - Djumafan - 08-07-2019

Mohawk, Orange eyed Avoca replaced his blonde brother today in mating process with "the Youngest Matimba Daughter" lioness from Nkuhuma Pride. Interestingly, dark manned avoca is still close to his brothers during this matings. But he is not part of that. I think his is to weak to chase his brothers off this female.  He is badly limping, blonde avoca is also limping... only oragne eyed avoca is in a good shape, so finally this is his time. Until now he was the lowest ranking male in this norther avoca male coalition.

Here you can see how dark manned avoca limping looks like (video from last days, Djuma waterhole)

Btw. look at this mohawk male.. at his eyes, face, they way how he looks at you, his growling attitiude..  He looks really like a bad guy. He is not a pretty boy like his brothers but there is something more special about him.

Any idea who the boys fought with? Dark mane has a pretty bad bite to his front leg.

RE: Avoca male lions - Djumafan - 08-09-2019

There is a female in heat and ready for mating so it could be that they fought each other.

the fight was only between Mohawk avoca and Nk young male, mangheni male runaway and Blondie avoca do not interfere.

words from elephants plains lodge:

"We were radioed by the gate guards who witnessed the fight. Acting swiftly we arrived at the gate and we found the young Nkuhuma covered in blood which mostly looked like the Avoca blood and a couple hundred meters away the two Avoca males. Only the Mohawk male covered in blood with the other male not a scratch on him... although the young Nkuhuma male was not bleeding as much he was seen the next day with a bit of a limp and looking quite sore. We presume that the Avoca male might have had the Nkuhuma pinned down and the young male while pinned down managed to land a few blows to the face...The tongue of the Avoca had a serious gash, looking like he may have bit through his tongue in the altercation so a lot of blood seen around the mouth and the legs were from that injury. "

And that is all for the guys spreading myth of Nkuhuma boy defeating Mohawk one on one. Nkuhuma boy is far for being ready to take on males in prime like any of the Avocas.
