Oo, PC you are serious man. After lions and tigers now you seems want to put in the basket a jaguar, all Big Three cats collection...
I have also got lions, tigers and leopards back in India, but didn't succeed to catch a jaguar in Costa Rica this March. Probably jaguar is the most difficult from big cats to be seen. Wish you success! And once you are in Brazil probably your GF will want also to see a Copa Cabana beach in Rio altogether with Pantanal...

RE: Decided on the Pantanal - Pckts - 05-23-2018

Believe it or not but I am hearing that seeing jaguars in the Pantanal is all but guaranteed.
These are coming from reputable accounts as well.
I’ll definitely be doing the Christ monument and copa cabana after in rio.

Thanks @epaiva
I really appreciate it.

RE: Decided on the Pantanal - Pantherinae - 05-23-2018

Great choice @Pckts sightings is all, but guaranteed now there and that must be amazing, to catch a glimpse of the jaguar! A friend of my college was there last year and had many sightings of jaguars and he was blown away by their size. He was there for just 2-3 days.

I have always wanted to go there myself especially after seeing the other cats, but I'm just not getting comfortable with the language barrier. I always pu**y out right before I'm supposed to book it... I have been in Brazil, but that was with a large group of friends for the World Cup, but getting out to the Pantanal alone, It just seems difficult.
But I'm sure you and your girlfriend will have a wonderful experience there, it's after all perhaps the most beautiful place on earth.

Just a little jealous..

@Pckts

Information sent by Rafael Hoogesteijn, DVM Director, Jaguar Conflict Program, Panthera General Manager, Panthera Brasil and Fazenda Jofre Velho.

FAZENDA JOFRE VELHO

Panthera has now one associated ranch in the Northern Pantanal are (the best hotspot in the Americas for seeing Jaguars in the wild environment) Fazenda Jofre Velho in Mato Grosso, and we have access to another larger one, Fazenda Sao Bento at the other side of the Cuiaba River (Mato Grosso do Sul).
Apart from the regular and pleassant activity of seeing Jaguars and other wildlife from the safety and confort of boats on the various Rivers of the region, on both Ranches we have trails and the possibility of bird wildlife walks and night spotlighting, and additionally in Jofre Velho of the participation in some cattle activities and or horse rides. All of them are activities no other Posada Hotel in that area can offer, surrounded by a lot of bird species numbers, and in a secluded atmosphere of tranquility, since we are 3 km away from the Transpantaneira, but with easy access all the year around, and at affordable prices.
Jofre Velho was recently acquired by Panthera Brasil, subsidiary of Panthera NY.

Boats and Guides are available and can be contacted: we recommend Ailton Lara:
[email protected]
http://www.pantanalnature.com.br
[email protected]
We have good relationship with Ailton, who is a neighbor by. And we also have a boat available in the ranch of another operator with affordable prices for larger 8-12 people groups.

Thanks
@epaiva
 They were actually recommend to me by a friend who does jaguar tours in Bolivia, I’m in contact with Mara Swartz at this moment, I’ll most likely end up going with them, I’m just waiting on a few other more inclusive options but I’ll keep everyone updated.

@Pckts
If you decide to go to Fazenda Jofre Velho tell Rafael Hoogesteijn that you are member of the Forum, I don't think you can find a person that knows more about Jaguars and he loves to talk about them, I knew him here in Venezuela before he went to work to El Pantanal.

RE: Decided on the Pantanal - Pckts - 06-07-2018

Ok guys, it's actually happening... albeit, not for over a year. But my intial deposit is paid and it's scheduled for next Sept.

I decided to go with "Pantanal & Rainforest Expeditions"
https://www.pantanalrainforests.com/

While it's a tough decision to choose who to go with when you do these trips, Paulo enticed me with his photos which you can see on his FB and made me feel most comfortable when discussing with him and Helen, his wife.

RE: Decided on the Pantanal - Smilodon-Rex - 10-03-2018

@Pckts , would you want to come to China?as far as I'm concerned, the ChangLong wildlife park will be completed in QingYuan, which located in the northern Canton province and it's my hometown too. I can be your local guide and let you have a special experience in China, if so, I would appreciate it and looking forward to your reply!!!
