Here is all the prey of African and Asiatic Lions.

As noted, the categories of threat were from ranked from 0 (no threat) to 2 (major threat that can kill predators).

"Finally, the anti-predatory strategy a species uses will affect its chances of becoming prey. Unfortunately, the lack of studies comparing crypsis or evasion speed of prey species (J. P. Elliott et al., 1977; Prins & Iason, 1989 excepted) meant the threat of injury to a hunter was all that could be analysed. The categories of threat used were 0 (no threat), 1 (minor threat or active defence of young), 2 (severe threat; known deaths attributed to predators caused by this species) (Table 3). Information for each of these categories comes from Estes (1991) and Stuart & Stuart Lion prey preferences 315 (2000), and Nowak & Paradiso (1983) for Indian prey species. Categorization as used here is fairly rudimentary; however, it serves to illustrate general trends adequately"

An easy hunt, on an easy prey, but I admire the lionesses' patience...

Most people are under the impression that male lions are just lazy cats that barely ever hunt. But this is nonsense. From what I've seen, there's plenty of evidence and videos of male lions actively hunting large prey animals and engaging and succeeding in dangerous hunts.

@Apex Titan

100% agree with you. I have posted plenty videos showing lonely male lions killing an adult buffalo or giraffe, even a suicidal sub adult hippo walking on the Serengeti plain... And so on.

But this text is interesting because of an other fact. According to the author, male lions seem to hunt differently compared to the females. Lionesses rather operate in open spaces while the males would prefer to ambush in the places where the grass is high. In short, I'm perhaps exagerating, because of the mane, the lion would be the only one felid for which the "mod operating hunting" would differ according to the gender, the sex, male or female.

Two female Lions bring down a Bull Eland.

RE: Lion Predation - Spalea - 02-04-2023

This video look like another one, in the same place, we posted before, but here we clearly that a lone male lion makes  the whole hunt and kill.

RE: Lion Predation - Spalea - 02-11-2023

Very short video in which we can see two males lions trying to definitely kill an adult hippo but being interrupted by two other hippos walking on the savannah. A little bit surrealistic ... Dated from the 31th October 2022.

RE: Lion Predation - BigLion39 - 02-11-2023

I remember that video. Osupaat and Nykendu, Ngoyanai Pride males. In the end they did NOT get that Hippo!
