There is, of course, but he's much older and he'll be ready to go alone earlier than them. We'll have to see how it plays down. RE: Lions of sabi sands - wingzer0o - 03-27-2018 anyone know the whereabouts of that Tsalala lion Solo lately? Just followed his stories on the safari blogs recently. RE: Lions of sabi sands - vinodkumarn - 03-28-2018 Credits: Singita SabiSands Feb 2018 News letter Here's a highlights package of the month's sightings Lions: Lion sightings have been incredibly interesting for the month of the February, with the dynamics of the Mhangene Pride and the aging Majingalane male lions as they disperse. The pride’s litters have reached independence, the now sub-adult lions have been viewed regularly on their own in varying numbers, from four individuals to eight, often with the mothers of the pride not being present. The coalition of Majingalane males battle through the hardship of being a male lion in the wild, and have been viewed with the sub-adults, following the younger lions in the hope to overpower a potential food source. One of the younger lionesses was reported to have a large gash under her left jaw, a clear indication of a wound inflicted by a buffalo during hunting. The puncture wound was only noticed when the lioness was seen resting with the pride within a short distance of a group of buffalo that they were hunting the night before. A wound that would be a reminder that experience far outweighs brawn in the wild! A harsh lesson, however, given the resilience of wild animals the wound should heal and she will recover well. This first night they killed a Wildebeest we found them the next morning with full stomachs. Then the following night they killed buffalo right next to our camp fence we could hear the whole kill going on but not see it. We found them the following morning and their stomachs were so large they could hardly move. I will look for some pictures of them over.

I haven't seen him anymore, last time I recall he was in the Kruger with a pride and had something in his face, like a tumor, but after that I didn't really see more of him. It could be simply that he isn't sighted as often, but I don't know. How do you all see it turning out for him? Hello Jordi. Well, it's going to be tough for him. With a lot of luck, maybe he could join up with his half brothers, the younger Mangheni lads, but it will require some timing because those are a year younger than him and will need much more time to mature. If he happens to be pressed now by his fathers or maybe rival males, then he's going to have to tough it up until maybe he finds a partner. But it'll be difficult. RE: Lions of sabi sands - vinodkumarn - 03-31-2018 Credits: Sabi Sabi PGR THE RISE OF THE POTENTIAL KINGS OF THE SOUTH ![]() *This image is copyright of its original author Recently a variety of young male lion coalitions have been witnessed at Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. The main reason for their attraction to this area is because this area is vacant, no territorial male or coalition exists after the disappearance of the two Charleston males south over the Sabie River. A relatively large territory left vacant in the southern part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve with a pride of lions comprising of female lions and a few cubs, pretty much heaven for a young coalition, however competition is high.
The two young Avoca males have been seen daily, moving in deeper and deeper into the heart of the vacant territory, and “any day now they will meet up with the Southern Pride.”
Those words, mentioned too soon. The Avoca males have laid out the ground to their potential territorial take over by terminating an individual or two that stand in their way in their attempt to secure their kingdom.
Male lions that are in the process of developing a territory are known to kill cubs of the previous dominant male/s in that area. By doing this, they remove the genes of these males and it also brings the females into oestrus sooner (so preventing lactation and motherly instincts) to start mating with the new dominant males in that area to allow for their genes to run within their newly proclaimed territory.
It’s all a matter of time until we know the outcome, however, the future looks bright for the young Avoca males in the southern part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
RE: Lions of sabi sands - SSLionsfan - 03-31-2018 Hi all! I'm a new member here. I recently have become intrigued by the lions of Sabi Sands after stumbling across a video about the famous Mapogo coalition on YouTube. I've been doing a lot of research and could not find a good map outlining the territories of the current coalitions in Sabi Sands. I made a quick, very vague outline map of where I believe the current coalitions to be in control of. I did not make this to show you definitively where they are, but rather in hopes that some of the more knowledgeable people on this forum tell me if I am on the right track to understanding the lands that these coalitions control. Thank you! Side note: I was very confused about the young Avoca males territory in particular. I heard that they recently moved into the Southern Pride territory after allegedly, they unknowingly tracked and hunted the same buffalo herd as the pride. It was said they eventually killed the cubs from the Charleston males who we're not present in the area. RE: Lions of sabi sands - Chris - 04-01-2018 (03-31-2018, 11:42 AM)SSLionsfan Wrote: Hi all!
