RE: Avoca male lions - Potato - 12-23-2021 (12-23-2021, 03:08 AM)WildLeonis Wrote: but his shift away from Djuma is understood considering he’s no longer partnered with his brothers and seems to prefer being on his own.His preferences might no longer matters. With a competition closing up to Avocas territorry, Avocas might have no other option than to reunite in order to hold their territory. With the Ndzenga males pushing Avocas a bit further north and with Imbali male pushing Dark Mane from the north (and it seemed so far that DM can't handle Imbali male on his own) Dark Mane might not longer have enough space to to operate as single terrytorial male. RE: Avoca male lions - Wyld@Heart - 12-25-2021 Oh dear, pics can be deceiving but he looks to have lost a heck of lot of muscle mass. He is my favourite lion around and now that he is being seen less due to the shifting dynamic it would be pretty sad, for me personally, to see him wither away. Such is the way it goes in the bush though and while he may not have legendary accounts about his existence his time as a territorial male can definitely be regarded as a success (and may yet hopefully continue). Agreed. He’s looking very thin. Hopefully he’ll get a meal soon and recover if something else is going on. We are right at that three year mark where dominant males oftentimes start to shift territory, lose territory and prides etc. it’s a critical time for him, and his brothers. In the past he’s been known to be extremely resilient. Hopefully that resilience will continue and he’ll be around for a while to come. Here's to hoping he can put it on just as fast.
