Do we have any information about the measurements of the captured male?

A problem tiger has been captured from Geruwa Rural Municipality-4, Rajipur of Bardia yesterday by a team of #NTNC and #DNPWC technicians from #Chitwan and #Bardia. For past three months, this tiger has been seen terrorizing peoples lives, and is believed to have killed five people and plundered livestock. Upon taking it under control we found that its canine teeth were broken and had damages in its claws. This happens when two male tigers fight seriously. Because of this, the tiger could not kill wild prey species and started to kill people and livestock.

The pictures posted in post 122 (good find, Copters) show a mature male tiger close to a number of people. The last picture suggests the tiger could have been measured in a straight line ('between pegs') with a steel tape. 

Reliable information published in the period 1935-1990 suggests tigers from northern India and Nepal, and those from Chitwan and Bardia in particular, could be the largest wild big cats today (referring to averages). The range in size is considerable. Those who measured them agreed adult Nepal male tigers often are quite robust and have relatively large skulls and shortish tails.

The question to members interested in tigers is to get to an estimate on the Bardia man-eater (HB length, tail length, total length and weight). Explanation appreciated.

Hello Peter

This male definitely has a bigger frame than the one captured in Corbett and transferred to Rajaji. We know that male was most likely a young animal (his dimensions were tigress sized) but he already weighed 215 kg. If we look in the video, we can get some shots to compare both of them in similar positions. I'll copy paste the video link and measurements of that young male

Edit - Headbody length = 67 inches / 170.18 cms
Total length = 8 ft 9 inches / 266.7 cms
Shoulder height (extended paw) = 38 inches / 96.52 cms ;; (subtracting the paw length) = 81.28 cms
Weight = 215 kgs






Maybe we can use this male to get ballpark figures for the nepal male
