RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Pckts - 03-06-2020 RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Styx38 - 03-28-2020 Leopard attempts to hunt 300 + kg Sambar stag. Unfortunately, the Sambar spots the Leopard, and runs off. Had the Leopard gone undetected, we could have seen a Leopard taking down this massive Ungulate in action. RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Luipaard - 06-01-2020 @ Here's a similar scenario RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Rage2277 - 06-01-2020 *This image is copyright of its original author Video Recieved on whatsapp as black panther was captured at Sri Lanka . Don't have any further details on incident tho. If anyone has it , do share RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Luipaard - 06-01-2020 @Rage2277 This leopard was rescued from a snare a few days ago. Here's full footage: After the capture: However, a little later it turned out he eventually succumbed to his wounds: "The rare dark-furred leopard that was rescued by wildlife officials from a hunters’ snare earlier this week died this morning after three days of treatment. Department of Wildlife Conversation (DWC) officials, under whose care the seven-year-old black panther was said to be recovering, have yet to determine the exact cause of death. The wounded leopard was found and rescued on May 26 at the Lakshapana Estate in Nallathanniya, Hatton, and was later transported to the Randenigala Veterinary Hospital for treatment. Initial examinations performed by Dr Malaka Abeyratne of the Udawalawa Department of Wildlife Conservation had revealed that the snare had heavily damaged the leopard’s neck area." https://economynext.com/rescued-black-leopard-dies-wildlife-officials-yet-to-determine-cause-of-death-70489/ It's most likely the black panther they discovered a few months ago, which I posted in this thread too: Quote:‘Sri Lankan Black Panther’ rediscovered in forests of Adam’s Peak RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Rage2277 - 06-01-2020 yea..was gonna post that but he's a big boy though..looks like he was also fighting with another male those scratches and cuts on his body @ RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Luipaard - 06-01-2020 (06-01-2020, 04:01 PM)Rage2277 Wrote: yea..was gonna post that but he's a big though..looks like he was also fighting with another male those scratches and cuts on his body @ Could be scars from previous snares as well who knows. I also read something about an old gunshot wound that already got healed? No matter what happened to him it's just sad. Such a beautiful specimen... Apparently another Sri Lankan leopard got rescued from a snare too: RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Luipaard - 07-10-2020 RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Pckts - 07-31-2020 Julius male of Yala RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - Pckts - 08-09-2020 Lucas making a Chital Kill RE: Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) - cheetah - 09-28-2020 According to the BBC the sri lankan leopard is the top predator in Sri lanka.
