I was interested where you found those pictures if you don't mind sharing that info. Btw. One of my friends contacted Alessandro De Maddalena in an email. He said that he couldn't give a proper estimate because those photos aren't really suitable to produce a proper estimate of this specimen. He said it might be around 5.5 meters. My friend Ravager and I tried our best to recreate a model of this shark. Of course this is not very accurate but the best we could've had done. We tried to match the size of the shark's dorsal fin seen in the second picture. We also used 6 feet as a reference to a guy standing next to it. And we got that shark is roughly around 23 feet. Of course, we later used the average height of the Mexican male to make a comparison. But we settled on a guy being a bit taller than other people on the photo, so we used 5'8 as a more reliable measurement. We got 21.7 ft assuming the guy was 5ft 8 inches tall. We know this might not be accurate but not too far off. Also note that shark's dorsal fin is a bit curved to the side and not in up straight position in which we demonstrated it, so the shark might have been likely larger. Best regards. RE: Great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) - le serb - 10-08-2024 Hey everyone, for some time I have been looking for some accurately measured white sharks, or at least credible ones with some proof to back their claims. And I noticed two individual cases that caught my very interest. As you are all familiar with, the fact that Great white sharks have sexual dimorphism, which means that females are usually quite larger than male counterparts. The "largest" great white shark (agreed by scientific community) would be Ledge Point 1984 with a female of 597 cm TL, which is, don't get me wrong, HUGE. But what I am about to say may sound weird, I actually think there might be 2 larger MALE sharks both measured and have good enough remains saved to be considered "reasonable". In Alessandro De Maddalena book, Mediterranean Great white sharks. There is one individual in particular that caught my eye. It's a 620cm TL great white shark caught by Italian fisherman. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author The both weight given and sizes of pectoral fin and caudal fin seem to correspond to the given measurement. RE: Great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) - le serb - 10-08-2024 [attachment=12617] I'll put the link here so you can read it all together for your selves. The other individual that caught my eye was an astonishing 660cm TL, as I understood from measuring different parts of the shark because it was too big to be transported in one piece. I don't know if that would make shark larger in TL or smaller, so I'd leave it as it is. This shark has both fins measurements and few teeth saved. What I find amazing also, is the fact that if the fins are measured correctly it would be the largest Great White Shark fins to be ever measured. "This 'monster' was caught in the nets and brought to the beach alive... We are talking about a 7.5 meter, 2.5 ton great white shark. When they tore it inside, it had a den eke made of oil, a rotting fish and a horse with a horseshoe..." he characteristically told us. https://www.thes.gr/apodraseis/paralia-xina-chalkidiki-i-kantina-pou-se-taxidevei-sto-chrono-kai-i-istoria-tou-lefkou-karcharia-vinteo-foto/ *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author
