RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - BigLion39 - 05-13-2023 Its the dry season over in Kenya. Most of the predetors are lean both in the Mara and Amboselli. So HWC happens more frequently. Loonkito left the park (which he probably did many, many times over his 2 decade lifespan) and preyed upon some livestock. BBC News reported the villiages were not happy about killing him as they know him. He was weak and probably starving. It is a shame but Amboselli needs some fresh blood as it is not open to other reserves. No other lion in the wild would be able to reach his age. What I can't fathom is with all the non lethal deterrents used for riot control, etc.... none of the rich billionaires who want to push their agenda on everyone else does not donate non lethal deterrents? They push their environment agenda on everyone else but do nothing for actual real wild animals in danger. RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - T_Ferguson - 05-14-2023 So, six lions were killed in what is being called a community slaughter. Officials tried to push the lions out, but residents rioted and killed 6 lions. I think this is the same area where LoonKito was killed. So apparently the locals are now on a mission. RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - Mwk85 - 05-14-2023 Ten (10) lions lost altogether. Hey man, just a heads up, certain people these days might mis-construe your comment and might take it literally. Be very careful what you comment on over the internet. I feel very upset about lions getting killed and speared to death, poisoned as well. Just wanted to friendly point that out for you. Here, you can see two lions resting high up in a tree, engaging in a favorite pastime common to all cats: observing and watching from an elevated position. RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - Spalea - 07-29-2024 Tremendous story of an atonishing male lion, Jacob, born in 2014, in a biotop infested of poachers in Uganda. In 2018, he lost an leg because of o poachers' trap. On February 2024, with his fellow Tibu, he swam on night a 1.5 km river among hippos and crocs in order to establish a new territory. " This is a tribute about a lion who became recently famous for doing with his brother the longest swin at night done by big cats. The lion named Jacob from the Queen Elisabeth Park of Uganda, he survived to things that caused the death of many lions there, he's a 3 leg lions who comand respect for all he had endure from his birth to now and who made a new world record by swimming in a infested crocodile river over 1,5 kilometers ! Lets wish well for this king and his brothers away from human " RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - Apex Titan - 07-29-2024 (07-29-2024, 02:28 PM)Spalea Wrote: Tremendous story of an atonishing male lion, Jacob, born in 2014, in a biotop infested of poachers in Uganda. I read about this lion a couple of weeks ago. What an amazing lion, a true survivor that never quits. But very sadly, in this human-dominated world, he lost a leg due to a poacher's snare. His family was also poisoned. Just one of the many atrocious examples of how humans are destroying and polluting nature and wild animals. This is why I criticized the capturing methods of the Siberian Tiger Project biologists. They were using foot-snares to catch tigers, and some tigers got injured. Here's some interesting articles about this male lion 'Jacob': https://www.sciencealert.com/lion-with-3-legs-makes-death-defying-swim-across-predator-infested-river https://www.africanews.com/2024/07/11/three-legged-lion-takes-record-breaking-swim-across-river-in-uganda// RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - Spalea - 07-30-2024 @Apex Titan : About #117 Thanks a lot for the two very interesting articles you posted ! Yes the big cats can be remarkable and indomitable survivors. But the most distressing fact remains the men' behaviour towards the wild life, especially the top apex predators. Since the dawn of the humanity, we haven't evolved face to them, and we still stay the worse option to consider when it comes to share an habitat with potential enemies. In that, the animals never lie. RE: Lions of Southeast Africa (including Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Zambia) - kening - 07-30-2024 General, brother of Mohawk, was killed by cruel human beings wildfreelions: "This lion known as the General of Kafau National Park, alongside his brother Mohawk, ruled their territory with a big pride. I have consistently followed their story and developments. Tragically, he was born wild and free but was unjustly killed last week due to the legalization of lion hunting in Zambia. This law enables wealthy individuals to hunt these majestic animals for pleasure, all under the guise of funding conservation programs and generating substantial revenue. Wild lions possess an inherent dignity and should never have their lives traded for a license that permits their killing for profit, benefiting those who lack integrity and ethics. Pursuing superficial and gruesome methods for financial gain is a disservice to those who sell their invaluable animals to the highest bidder. Wild animals should be regarded as treasures that are not for sale, as they hold significant value in the hearts of all who appreciate and strive to protect wildlife." *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author

This shit really pisses me off. Humans (the absolute worst of creatures) will never stop this destruction of wild animals and nature. Why the hell would they legalize lion hunting in Zambia?!! How sick and stupid can they get. Africa is a joke when it comes to wildlife conservation. Those muppet's need to know the great importance of an apex predator in an ecosystem. |
