RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Tshokwane - 07-06-2017 Credits to Governors Il Moran Camp. Scar was seen with a female of the Paradise pride; he is looking very well and his eye has improved tremendously. He has been spotted in this area for some few days now. *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Tshokwane - 07-07-2017 Credits to Mara Triangle. Happy to see scar face again in Mara Triangle when he is almost fully heal. He can now walk faster long distance than when we saw him in May this year. Scarface used to travesred a very large area from Ashnil camp all the way to Musiara gate, then crossed Oloolo and back to Serena. For the last one year, he concentrated between Mara Serena and Maincrossing on the other side of Greater Mara. He is hardly seen alone but with a group of females and mostly during mating. (video by Alfred Bett). Click on it to play. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Tshokwane - 07-08-2017 Credits to Craig Watkins. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - vinodkumarn - 07-10-2017 MAASAI MARA LIONS Powerful Sandriver Duo. Bernard, the one-eyed lion from Sandriver Pride and his half tail brother are always together. Resident at blackrock area, Bernard is the dominant male of the blackrock pride. The terrible scars are resulting from many battles defending his territory, also during the famous King Notch era. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Tshokwane - 07-11-2017 Credits to Raphael Rotiken. This male was pursuing a lioness with cubs early this morning. Luckily the cubs escaped narrowly from this big Kahuna... *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author This is one of the Rekero males, sons of the Notch males. I don't know why these males are killing their own cubs again. This is 2/3 time they are doing RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Tshokwane - 07-11-2017 (07-11-2017, 06:53 AM)vinodkumarn Wrote: I don't know why these males are killing their own cubs again. I don't know if those are their cubs. But if they're anything like their fathers, they control a lot of land and spend time away from some of the prides where they fathered cubs. And so, it happens something similar as it happened with Mr.T. The lads come back and think, I never got laid with this chick and so assume the kids aren't theirs. They must be lacking competition from other coalitions. But it does go to show are lionesses are completely dependable from males. If the lions are set on killing those cubs, there isn't a lot that they can do. Notch boys (sons and Grandosns) are impressive in their size, aggression in the way in which they take territory after territory. But I am worried about inbreeding which is bad for gene pool. I think majority of the prides are controlled by notch bloodline and many of the females are also sired by Notches. I hope some new blood will come in and diversify the gene pool. RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - vinodkumarn - 07-14-2017 This was last week. Nashipae from Enguyanai pride was trying to keep blacky from going down to the river. Blacky insisted. We went to check why she was keeping Blacky away from that direction. 400 metres, Naibor was taking her 3 new cubs out of a den and hurrying them away. she probably already got blacky's scent from the wind Credits: Mara Lion Project *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Other male lion coalitions from Masai Mara - Tshokwane - 07-14-2017 Credits to Matira Magazin. EARLESS ALIVE! PRIDE WITH CUBS!: *This image is copyright of its original author Good news from Earless and Boxernose. The two male lions founded their own family with a coalition of four females. Earless was not seen for a while despite intensive patrol in his basic area. Now we know the reason. He has been in the refuge, with four females in a secluded area that is not easily accessible to cars. So the cubs have grown up undisturbed for the first days and weeks. Earless came out now with Boxernose – the second male. Proud fathers of eleven cubs from four mothers. Grand Earless-Pride with seventeen members! *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author
