RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Pckts - 10-21-2015 Crazy if True!! Have no idea how Sultan would make it that far from Ranth. Must be a different "sultan" Many are saying foul play would have to be involved for sultan to travel that far but maybe @Roflcopters or @Apollo could shed more light on it. Ramesh Raghavan shared Ashok Hallur's post to the group: CLaW - Conservation Lenses & Wildlife. 2 hrs · Authorities say " Sultan" is injured and is at Sariska !!! *This image is copyright of its original author Ashok Hallur to Save tiger first3 hrs · Tiger spotted and its injured ??? http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/…/articlesh…/49401237.cms One of the most popular tigers of Sariska tiger reserve was spotted with wounds around one of his ears, leaving the wildlife enthusiasts and reserve authorities a worried lot. To prevent the spread of infection, the reserve authorities are trying to tranquillize the beast to prevent infection. The tiger is named Sultan and is one of the most sighted tigers in the reserve, making him very popular among tourists. The offiicals consulted the experts of Wildlife Insititute of India, while a doctor has been called from the Jaipur zoo. The movements of the tiger are being tracked, an officer said. RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Shardul - 10-21-2015 There was a 'Charger' in Bandhavgarh and a 'Charger' in Pench. Both different animals. Machli as we know is actually Machli Jr, her mother was the original Machli from where she got the name. So there were 2 Machlis. This is the problem with naming tigers. People will give the same name to different animals. This Sultan is likely a different animal than the one from RTR. Last heard, the RTR Sultan was sighted in the reserve, far from his original territory and outside of the tourism zone, but still inside reserve boundaries. Unless someone has conclusive evidence that Sultan somehow made his way to Sariska or was shifted there, which I doubt anyone has, it is just hearsay. But hey, who cares about facts when we can all believe in a nice conspiracy theory! RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - GrizzlyClaws - 10-21-2015 His broken canine tooth has no cavity inside, and this means he is an old specimen. I thought you'd like that picture. Discolor of his canines, broken tooth, ravaged tongue, deteriorating canines all seem to be the tell, tell sign of an old specimen. Reminds me of Munna, he has the same issues as Raja. RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - GrizzlyClaws - 10-21-2015 Wagdoh's canines are in better condition than him. RE: B2 and Other Great Tiger Pics from India - Tshokwane - 10-21-2015 The three of them are more or less around the same age, correct? I'm not sure. @Roflcopters or @Apollo would know better than I. My guess is Munna is the oldest, Waghdoh then Raja. But all are over 9 I believe. I wish I could find 3 newer ones to compare. We know Raja is a buffalo specialist and loves to hunt large game, Waghoh is as well, but hes seen sharing kills with his family and has multiple females to poach kills off of so maybe he put less strain on them over the years. Muna is a battler, his canines and tongue were pretty bad from the image I can remember. Just hard to find them, im sure they're here somewhere if anybody wants to search and try to post the 3 side by side. Ill look as well. I think Wagdoh is much older than 9. The first time I saw him was back in 2007, and he was already an adult male with huge muscles. This guys was no doubt a solid 650 pounder during his prime. Definitely, I think both are older than Raja. And I thought Raja was around 10-11 Im curious whats Munnas age, hes the most impressive IMO. The amount of battles hes fought and still fights to this day, in a land ruled by many large males and very few females, its amazing he was in control for as long as he was. Even still fighting for breeding rights |
