"The big male leopard Chavaluthu just cannot stay out of trouble. He barely had time to recover from a warthog injury that happened a month or 2 ago when we found him with another injury to his leg. Warthogs taste good, but I am not sure if they are worth the risk."

RE: The Leopard (Panthera pardus) - Ngala - 09-27-2016

From Ezulwini Game Lodges:
"When this blue-eyed boy crosses your path, you hold your breath and stare in wonder. Chavaluthu, our resident male leopard strolled right in front of our vehicle. He was on a mission and scent marking his turf aggressively. With the recent gentle rains to hit the Balule, we speculate his scent marks were washed away with the weather. This Tom had to ensure his turf was well-marked to prevent intruders from taking his land!"

"Toms have wide territories that overlap with many females. They're drawn to areas because of concentrations of female leopards and availability of food. Chavaluthu is one of the dominant leopards in our areas and has been spotted with both the Van Wijk's leopardess and an unknown female."

"A fighter and a survivor. Chavaluthu still bears the open wound on his back leg and has a heavily scarred face. In conjunction with scent marking, leopard's will defecate along territorial boundaries to ward off potential intruders."

"Leopards are notoriously aloof cats and because they function alone, they will avoid confrontation and showdowns. As a result, they ensure their turf is scent marked. They perform rigorous patrols of territories."

From Ezulwini Game Lodges:
"Chavaluthu is the blue-eyed boy of the Balule. Those eyes look straight into your soul. Have you ever come face-to-face with a leopard? They're like the Mona Lisa - those eyes follow your every movement. "
