“The Plains Camp males are a force to be reckoned with! We found this behemoth with his brother still panting and covered in gore after just dispatching two hyenas from this mortal coil.Far and away my two favourite animals on Londolozi, they are the quintessence of the male lion; pure power and ferocity, contained but ready to be unleashed at any moment.

It would appear that the PC males are hanging around Londolozi as they posted this earlier.
Anyone know if they've ventured to the west between the 26th and now, or have they remained in the east all this time?

Photos are from Kyle Gordon's post on Nov. 26.

Dunno. But with the Avocas down. It would make sense if they moved more east.

After a long time they're back in the West. Bboys have just attacked Tumbela after hearing him roar but I doubt they're brave enough to show up to a fair fight which is good for the PCM's Nkuhuma cubs since they'll be able to hide from Manghenis in the West.

This is not recent photo, its from few months ago.

Edit : yea, they are back in western sector, seen trailing NK/Nhenha

Issue is that Talamatis seem to want to settle down in the west and the pride is so big they're a huge threat to the Ximhungwe-Othawa and Nkuhuma Breakaway prides. Luckily they'll stay away, otherwise I don't see these 2 prides raising a new generation and escaping extinction.

PCM have expanded way too much, the entire Western Sector, Singita, and even parts of Londolozi, it's impossible for 2 males to protect such vast land.

Kinda true, thats the reason why Nhenha/NK and Tumbela male "sneak" in western sector when they are away, as PC males are not there on regular basis to patrol. So when they do return to western sector, they need to "clean" it all over again and chase intruders out.

This hurts Ximhungwes, as they are stuck in the "loop" of 3 coalitions circling in the area..

RE: Plains Camp males - Duco Ndona - 12-18-2022

The PCmales core territory isn't that big. Atleast its not spanning all the way from Londolozi to the fences of western sector.
Its mostly centered around Singita. The rest of the areas they just occasionally stroll into. Which they can do unopposed as they are the strongest group in the area.

Currently Western Sector has a huge power vacuum that is drawing in all sorts of of groups either trying to settle down there or hoping to avoid rival groups. But none of them exactly have been able to fill in the vacuum completely.

The PCmales are more interested in the eastern part of the area with the Mhangeni pride. The Birminghams lack the confidence to hold a territory and Skorro is just one lion.On the prides side its not much better. The Othawas are down to two frightened subs. The Ximhungwes are trying to establish themselves, but don't have the strength or expertise to handle the many problems thrown at them. And the Talamati are just wandering around.

Id love to see the PCmales taking undisputed control of the area. Atleast long enough for the Othawa subs to grow up and the Ximhungwes to rise another litter. But I don't think we saw the last death of the current turmoil yet. Its to early to crown them the undisputed kings of the west.

Of late, these two boys became successful nomads like that Mara lion, Jesse. Sneaking in and mating, running away at the roars of PCMs only to return back to mate when things soften up a bit to their liking. Seems they are happy to play like this long term.

RE: Plains Camp males - Duco Ndona - 12-18-2022

That is however not a good thing as they are just parasiting of the Ximhungwes without offering any protection. So any cub born is pretty much killed immidiatly. While hunting down and attacking any other lioness or cub they can find themselves.

Right now their presence is more a disaster to the local lion population than in any form a contribution.
They need to stepup and actually fight. Or disapear completely.
