NORTHERN PANTANAL: new large male registered:

"After the fires in Pantanal, I led a Tour in Porto Jofre. We cruised the labyrinth of rivers the snake through the region, for 4 days. We watched and photographed 14 different Jaguars, without counting the reports the other guide @pantanaltoursguide . All Jaguars individuals were healthy, including this male which was seen in the area for the first time last week, mating with known female jaguar at a sandbar along the Três Irmãos river. @jaguaridproject asked us to give him a name, so we introduce you : Forasteiro, which means Outsider.

I will be posting photos of all the different Jaguars we saw during this Tour in the following days.
We believe the most if not all individuals managed to survive in the burned areas, as they did not burn at the same time. Jaguars, caimans and capybaras live near the water, they are skilled swimmers and had previously experienced fire. Most of them were able to find shelter in ever green forest and swamps as natural selection has taught them to instinctively scape the fires ."

It's funny because we posted his new picture in two different threads at the same time Lol . It just came to my mind that with all these new registered newer males in the PJ area, we haven't seen being posted recently, which leads to believe that he could've been displaced from the area by one of these newer and larger males. I really haven't seen any recent pictures of Juru in months.

Between Covid and the Fires it's been much harder to follow them this season. Helpfully things calm down a bit and we can start to see who's in and who's been kicked out. But no one ever gets to stay long in the North, most males are lucky to have a few good years before they are booted out.

According to Ailton Lara he's just as large as Edno.

The name is appropriate as he "rose above the ashes" in the region. According to Ailton Lara he's just as large as Edno who we know to be the largest male in PJ, so we're looking at another monstrous male here:

@Balam

Beautiful male his forehead appears to be a bit bruised which could be sign of the fight against the male he possibly dethroned from Porto Jofre, but I could be wrong though it could just be a blood stain, either way amazing pic I am no surprised he is on Edno's level in size and I wanna see footages on videos of him walking just like the ones we got with Balam, Edno, Sombra...

Anyways just to let you know I am waiting for Tortato to tell me Gage's size.

LLANOS: Chipola, one of the largest jaguaresses I have ever seen. She successfully raised three cubs and as can be seen in the video all in great condition.

Donal sub-Adult male.

Unfortunately he is one of the victims of the fire that is also in north pantanal.

Ailton Lara '' During our inspection, we found a jaguar known as Donal, a sub-adult male with burnt paws. We quickly used our communication devices, radio HT VHF to transmit information to a group of veterinarians who are working in the region. After 2 hours, they arrived at the scene. This is one of many animals that have been affected by fire.''

NORTHERN PANTANAL:

"Pachamamo, a male jaguar rarely seen by the tour guides, boat drivers and visitors in the Porto Jofre region, but with the burned forest and heat, this animal has been seen more frequently lately close to the water. A survivor !"
