RE: Lion Predation - BIGCATSXPERT - 10-19-2021 A freshly killed, black rhino carcass was found with an adult male lion by Elliot (1987) in Umfolozi Game Reserve. There were signs of a struggle and well defined claw and tooth marks on the neck of the rhino which had a horn length of 18-20 cm making it probably two year old. It was concluded that there was strong circumstantial evidence that the lion had killed the rhino. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Lion+predation+on+the+African+Black+Rhinoceros+and+its+potential...-a0268790518 RE: Lion Predation - Spalea - 10-19-2021 @ About #1029: Interesting the link you given ! But for cows I think they can do it alone.. Thanks again RE: Lion Predation - BIGCATSXPERT - 10-20-2021 A lion known as Sirikoi, from Nairobi National Park, Kenya. When lions hunt buffalos, they tend to rely on the strength of the pride, as the power of a full-grown African buffalo - weighing between 1,100 and 2,200 pounds - can strike fear into the heart of any lion that finds itself outnumbered. Therefore, it is rare to see a single lion attacking a buffalo. But, in Nairobi National Park lives an exceptional male lion, called Sirikoi, who hunts alone adult buffalos frequently. https://www.facebook.com/kenyarising/photos/a.1728786434045495/2738835043040624/?type=3 RE: Lion Predation - BIGCATSXPERT - 10-20-2021 This is a testament to the sheer killing power of male lions. Watch as these calculating assassins pick out their target, and attack. A mother buffalo and a newly born calf separated from the herd make for the perfect prey for the lions. Although the African Buffalo is known for using its horns to violently gore lions, a herd of buffalo is far more formidable than just a single buffalo. Buffalo herds are known to attack lions as a single unit, and have been recorded killing lions in many instances. However, in this case, the herd has abandoned this mother and calf for unknown reasons. The calf is as good as dead without its mother, completely unable to fend for itsel The male lions attack swiftly, with one going straight for the jugular. This is a daring move, since it puts the lion directly in the line of attack for the sharp horns of the mother buffalo. The second male lion jumps on the back of the mother buffalo, and the battle quickly takes an unfortanute turn for the mothe The bewildered calf watches on helplessly, until finally a third male lion arrives to attack and quickly kill the youngst Watc According to the uploader, this is the last video of the three Selati males killing together before one was killed by a rival male lion coaliti Watch the full video below.
