The Dark-maned Ross male scans his surroundings as rest of the Birmingham Pride settle down around him.

We thought you might like an update on this male after the last post about him still showed the open wound on his face. Here you can see what the scar looks like now, although still with many flies on it!

Yes, the majority are.   The oldest (now presumed deceased) was just a few months younger than Osindile and the others followed w litters through it and for up to a year afterwards.   The youngest are close in age to the white prince and tawnies

I don't follow Timbavati sheananigans much, weren't there 9 of them? What happened to the other 3 (or are some still not chased out of the pride)? I was assuming they, minus this one now obviously are wandering around southern and eastern edges of the Timbavati. how much I am mistaken? (thx)

9? There was 7 in Birmingham breakaway ( oldest died to disease) and 3 in Birmigham pride, but this 2 groups are from different prides and dont hang together.

I stand corrected then. For some reason I remembered it as 9 and not 7 apparently, mixed two high single digit odd numbers. I know about the 3 (with the white one) being separate group from a different pride. What did the one did from (a shame)? I hope not the black spot/tubrculosis nemesis of male lions in the area.

he seemed to have sustained an injury that debilitated his immune system and he sort of slowly wasted away. reals shame cause he was quite a handsome specimen when healthy.

The white male lion has quite the presence. Still larger than the other two young males that he spends his time with, this male has us pinned under his gaze when he makes eye contact!

They continue to explore their surroundings and are currently spending more of their time in the north. These males are being seen together with the Birmingham Pride less often now than ever before. This is the natural progression of a male lion’s life, and the next step is to start moving as a coalition - searching for a territory to call their own.
