Majingilane male, Sabi Sands South Africa, one of four now ageing but still dominant males. 

They have been hugely successful males to date, raising a significant number of offspring to adulthood.

There is something incredibly intimate in the way predator interacts with their kill . Nature is violent and pretty gruesome , however this big male lion makes the process seem like a communion of two souls

We shall be lucky if we see Hipscar again -
He has come back from the death in the past though.
But my suspicion is that the other 3 have given up on him - he does not want to patrol - he just want to stay with the females and take his chances when the others are away.

He was with Goldenmane and Darkmane patrolling in londolonzi 4-5 days ago (comment made by Patrick Hutter)
